Almost, is the first book in Amy Booker’s Near Miss series and is the first book I’ve listened to by this author. It’s a pseudo second chance rock star romance.

Almost is Ryan and Sarah’s story, Two musicians who were once best friends that developed feelings for one another along the way. Timing didn’t work out for them as he left for LA to pursue his music career while she stayed home to care for her family. They’re reunited years later and take the chance for something more. Can their relationship survive the differences in lifestyle and communication issues that plague them from the start?

Sarah was a great character. She did so so much for everyone else but never gave up on her own dreams. She was so strong even when facing the unimaginable. I felt that Ryan was the prototypical young rock star at the start but grew throughout the book. When he realized he was heading down the wrong path with the excessive partying, he made changes for the better. And I was so happy to see him rush to be there for Sarah in her time of need.

I really enjoyed this book. Both mc we’re multidimensional and as a reader, I felt their emotions as I listened to the story. There was a wide range of emotions from anger and anguish to hope and happiness. I think a lot of that had to do with the narrators. Both were easy to listen to and their pacing and flow was perfect.

I highly recommend this second chance rock star romance. I received a copy of this audiobook from the author for my honest review.

Dad Bod Wingman was my first listen from Karla Doyle. It was an enjoyable friends to lovers story about Jensen and Bailey. Longtime friends who had feelings for one another but never acted on them. Jensen returned to town and opened a successful bar. Bailey never left town and has been working at her dad’s shop. I loved how they both had to step out of their comfort zones and go after what they wanted-each other. Although it was a short story, I felt like it was a complete story that hooked me from the start and had me rooting for their HEA. Their chemistry was believable and the intimate scenes were hot. The narrator did a good job. The pacing was spot on and I felt they did well telling both characters stories.

I would recommend Dad Bod Wingman to anyone who is looking for a quick listen and those who enjoy friends to lovers stories. I received a copy of this audiobook from the author for my honest review.

I enjoyed listening to Kelly Elliott’s Review Hearts in Motion, book 5 in her Boggy Creek Series.

Luke and Brighton are set up on a date by his dad who is her boss. They have an instant connection and jump into what they think will be a short fling. Both immediately know it’s more but they keep their relationship on the down low because of Luke’s fame and the unrelenting pressure they would face from the press if their connection is revealed. Trying to keep his professional life separate from his personal life stresses their budding relationship. Things come to a head and Brighton decides she deserves more and walks. During their separation, she quits her job and moves home Boggy Creek. A few months pass and the story picks up with Luke showing up at her parents B&B. At first, she’s not having it but her feelings never changed and she decides they need to talk. Luke reveals that he’s taken the time apart and made future plans and makes the ultimate gesture - leaving the business and settling in Boggy Creek for their HEA.

I felt like the choice of narrator for each character was spot on. Their pacing allowed me to follow the story with no distractions. I prefer two narrators over one person reading both parts.

I would recommend this audiobook to friends who are interested in second chance romance with a good storyline and enough heat to keep the story interesting from start to finish.

I generally enjoyed listening to Cup of Sugar, my first book by Karla Doyle. I feel like the choice of narrator was spot on for both H/h. Their pacing and inflection made the story come to life.

The storyline was pretty good until the very end. I was confused and had to re-listen to the last chapter to confirm I hadn’t missed anything. I don’t feel like either of their issues were resolved (him being a commitment adverse and her issue with him being a neighbor). Up to the last chapter, the story line flowed well and had the perfect amount of heat and angst.

I received a copy of this book for my honest review. Thanks for the opportunity!

I enjoyed the story of Nicole and Zach. She's rebuilding her life after losing her husband and son in a tragic accident. He's a famous rock star who isn't looking for love but finds it with Nicole. They fell into a relationship rather quickly and the steam level was just right in my opinion. I'm happy to report there wasn't a lot of excess drama. I was entertained by the story and would recommend it to my friends.

I liked that there were two narrators, but didn't like the fact that the male narrator didn't read much of the book. I also had a few technical issues with the book. I experienced many instances where the narrator would read part of a sentence then the book would pause and the same sentence would be read again. Also, some chapters felt like they ended abruptly and would be followed by a long silent pause.

Another Hit for S.R. Grey

Bet on Ice is the 9th book in S.R. Grey’s Boy’s of Winter series and is Landen and Cricket’s book. Both are new characters to the series as Landen is a new trade acquisition and Cricket is the team’s new PR coordinator. This is a relatively quick listen as their relationship goes from 0 to 100 in just a few chapters. They themselves in a committed relationship after their first few dates. Although they really cared about one another, the speed spooked them both. He almost makes a huge mistake on a long road trip, but realizes it and backtracks before true damage was done. This causes both to realize they moved too fast. They start over and are able to work it all out in the end.

The narrators were easy to listen to and paced the reading of the book well.

I would recommend this audiobook to my friends who enjoy listening to sports romance.

This was a quick insta-love story about a professional hockey player and a 3rd grade teacher. Brewer and Gracie “meet” when he looks up through the glass and sees her rink side at his hockey game. The chemistry is off the charts between the two. Do they allow this to become more even though both are hesitant?

As I said, this was a quick listen and I enjoyed it despite the technical hiccup in Chapter 5. The narrators voices and cadence were pleasant to listen to. Definitely worth a listen if you’re short on time.

I enjoyed listening to Ryder and Riana’s second chance romance. Their relationship ended 3 years earlier due to a lack of communication. They meet up again by chance in Florida and both still have strong feelings for one another. This time around, they lay their cards on the table from the start and are able to navigate life’s obstacles (her agreeing to be a surrogate for her ex and his partner and his career hitting a major roadblock).

The narrator’s voice and inflection is pleasant and easy to listen to. I would recommend this audiobook to others who enjoy second chance romances.

I received a copy of this audiobook from the author for my honest review.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. You have two single parents not looking for a relationship but fall into one by chance. As they become more to one another, a threat to Rebecca emerges. Patrick wants to keep her safe and employs his well trained Navy SEAL family without telling her what’s going on. Of course this causes issues, but does it end the relationship? You’ll have to listen to find out.

I think the narrator did a good job, but I really didn’t care for how she read the kids voices.

I would definitely recommend this book to my friends who enjoy military single parent romances.

Famous Actress and the Single Dad

I enjoyed listening to Isaac & Cora's story. Cora's a big time famous actress and Isaac is a single dad who is trying to get through college while working the night shift as a barista to support and raise his non-verbal 3-year old son. Cora is also a few years older than Isaac. They make quite the unlikely pair. Their story grabbed my attention and held it to the very end. I loved how different they were from one another but how they seemed to really care about each other instead of just being attracted physically. My heart broke for them as they dealt with challenges that arose from family issues, aspects of her job, and the struggles from raising a non-verbal toddler. I really loved how they talked through the issues and fought for one another even though there was a lot stacked against them getting their HEA.

I feel like the narrators did a good job with the book, although I did prefer the male narrator over the female narrator in spots.

I would highly recommend listening to this book. I received a copy from the author for my honest review which is presented above.
