Nope.
Revisado: 12-21-23
I loved this series until this book. The constant preachiness and syrupy language throughout was exhausting and irritating, taking me out of the story. It felt as though the author used a thesaurus to describe every thought, conversation, and perspective. The narrator's breathy reverential tone became annoying. I wanted to like the premise; sadly, the overbearing quality and virtue signaling ruined this tale.

Meh...could've been better
Revisado: 09-20-18
Storyline was intriguing but handled so obviously I found myself wanting to skip ahead...anticipating most twists. One major thing that pulled me out of story was the poorly-done Tess by the narrator; she sounded like a uneducated barmaid. And not once, but several times her behavior defied belief and common sense. It all felt forced. I love and read a great deal of historical fiction...esp love Templar tales. I would give any further forays with Khoury's characters a pass.

Story maybe, but probably NO; narrator-never again
Revisado: 04-25-18
Would you try another book from C. J. Archer and/or Emma Powell?
No.
What could C. J. Archer have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
I am unsure that much could have been done to improve a very slow, plodding story with a narrator who was all wrong for this story.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator's style was simpering and prissy. And her American (old west) accents were so awkward and awful I found myself rolling my eyes whenever she spoke as one of those characters. This pulled me completely out of the story.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Watchmaker's Daughter?
Too many to list...this book was overly-long for the actual plot line. In the end, it ended up without resolution. I was not satisfied with this audible purchase.
