Historia
Isabelle Lockwood was a duchess, until her husband of only a few months wrongfully divorced her for adultery. Since then she's been a pariah, living in anonymous exile to escape the prying eyes and wagging tongues of the town. More than anything, Isabelle longs for a family of her own, and so has to marry again. But society is ruthlessly unforgiving. To clear her name, Isabelle must face down her past - and the man who broke her heart and ruined her completely. Marshall Lockwood, Duke of Monthwaite, was blindsided by his young bride's infidelity.

Nice story ruined by narrator
Revisado: 10-14-18
I honestly couldn’t listen to narrators performance - it ruined the story. Won’t buy another story narrated by Ms. Beresford.

Historia
Following the runaway success of her stunning rendition of Pride and Prejudice, award-winning narrator Alison Larkin returns - breathing new life into Jane Austen's Emma. Celebrating the 200th anniversary of the book, Larkin - a witty and always original voice - is the perfect vessel to bring this classically satirical novel to a new audience.

Love jane Austen - thought this narrator was awful
Revisado: 03-12-18
I honestly couldn’t finish - I hate to use this word, but narrator was positively shrill. I can’t believe this one was in honor of 200 years - thankfully the story remains as perfect as ever.

Stilted narration
Revisado: 11-18-17
Three not very well written stories made worse by abysmal performance. I don’t recommend purchasing this particular audible.

Historia
Emma can be enjoyed as a charming love story, a detective story, and a comic and lively picture of English life 200 years ago. Austen's beautiful, clever, wilful but fallible heroine Emma Woodhouse believes she knows best. Perfectly content with her life she sees no need for either love or marriage, yet nothing pleases her more than meddling in the romantic lives of others.

Love Story - performance, not so much
Revisado: 01-15-17
I have read all of Ms. Austen's books many times. Recently listened to Pride and Prejudice and thought it was great - allowed me to enjoy the genius of her writing in a whole new way. So looked forward to this version of Emma. What a disappointment. Voice is shrill, story telling lacks nuance and overall is read too quickly. I won't finish it.
