Historia
What happens when you visit a place that blurs the lines between the present and the past, where your reality gets tangled with a shadow of an alternate reality? When Aparna comes to the village to assist her mother in selling their ancestral house, little does she know that she is going to embark on a journey, which will shake the very core of her sanity. An antiquated Haveli, an echoing past, a spectre from beyond will put her on a path that would be strewn with secrets; secrets that were kept from her by her own family.

Historia
Born and raised as the property of Titan's great houses, the Daughters of Light are more than mere slaves to their masters. When bonded to the lord of a great house, their extraordinary powers can be accessed for the use of their husbands to make them stronger rulers and increase their dominion. Raven was born to be a slave, but she questions why it should be so...even as she repeatedly dreams of a man she has never met who will come to sweep her away from the life of misery and bondage that awaits her.

A beautiful tale set in the supernatural land of Titan. Interweaving suspense, love, drama and storytelling genius, James Somers has done a beautiful job incorporating Christian values in a fantasy world. Great book for teens and adults! Looking forward to the next book in the series!

Historia
In the early 1940s, countless Jewish families were imprisoned in the Warsaw Ghetto before being led to their deaths by the Nazis. Amidst this horror, one young Jewish girl is smuggled out of the ghetto, sent to live on the other side of Warsaw with Helen Dobinski, a friend of her mother. Helen's Catholic faith and her friendship with the girl's mother compels her to keep the young child safe from harm. But Helen's heroism comes at a cost. Because harboring a Jewish person is a crime to the Nazis, with severe punishment - even death - as the penalty.

Hoorah! A new Kagan series to consume my days.....
Revisado: 06-28-19
I was quickly captivated (as usual) by Kagan's writing style. This book raises some interesting issues, which has given me much food for thought. The narrator has an interesting accent, but overall gave a sensitive and appropriate narration of the book. Very well done. I will be buying the next book in the series for sure.

Historia
Hitler has surrendered. The Nazi flags, which once hung throughout the city, striking terror in the hearts of Polish citizens, have been torn down. It seems that Warsaw should be rejoicing in its new-found freedom. But Warsaw is not free. Instead it is occupied by the Soviet Union, held tightly in Stalin’s iron grip.

I love that this series continues... Ms Kagan brings these characters to life, and their stories intertwine from generation to generation. Such an easy way to absorb and learn important historical facts about WW2. The narrator is very good - warm and not overwhelming - a consistent and empathetic delivery.
