Historia
There has never been a mid ocean ditching by an air carrier jet." These are the words that haunt Captain Charlie Wells when he realizes that his jumbo jet has a problem over the Atlantic. None of the passengers or crew could know that a disgruntled airline mechanic has sentenced them to a night of terror. As the flight approaches the Equal Time Point, and is the most distant from land, Captain Wells and his crew of pilots and flight attendants struggle to avoid making history.

Ditching Saga
Revisado: 04-09-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. It is a good airline story about how loyal most typical airline employees really are .....except for one new executive who does not have the big picture of airline management and a mechanic who reacts vengefully against the reality of losing his job..
What about Thomas Block’s performance did you like?
Excellent narration by Mr. Block

Unpredictable flights
Revisado: 03-15-17
I enjoyed the author's ability to keep my interest at a high level through out the book. Situational "switches" made the story very intriguing and hard to put down.
Mr. Block's narrative was excellent considering all the characters that he portrayed. Not an easy task.

Flying on the edge.
Revisado: 10-19-16
The story reminds us that VFR flying in marginal weather conditions is a "flying by the seat of your pants" experience that you don't forget easily. The author made you feel that you were at the controls, and the excellent narration by Mr. Block completed the reality of it all

Historia
This is the story of the first airline pilot ever arrested and sent to prison for flying under the influence. He was fired by his airline, stripped of his FAA licenses, tried, convicted, and sent to federal prison. Lyle Prouse came from a WWII housing project in Kansas and a family where both parents died as a result of alcoholism. He rose through the ranks of the United States Marine Corps from private to captain, from an infantryman to a fighter pilot. He made his way to the pinnacle of commercial aviation, airline captain, and then lost it all.

A POWERFUL STORY
Revisado: 08-25-16
Would you listen to Final Approach again? Why?
YES. I CAN IDENTIFY WITH LYLE PROUSE AS I WAS THE SAME AGE, SAME NAVAL MARINE FLIGHT TRAINING, JUST DIFFERENT AIRLINES AND HAVE FLOWN WITH AN ALCOHOLIC AT ONE TIME IN MY CAREER.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Final Approach?
CAPT PROUSE REALIZING THAT HE REALLY HAD A PROBLEM AND TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT. THEN RISING TO THE OCCASION AND ADJUSTING HIS WHOLE ATTITUDE AND LIFE TO COME OUT OF THE QUAGMIRE ONE STEP AT A TIME UNDER ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE ODDS..
Have you listened to any of Thomas Block’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
YES, I HAVE LISTENED TO TWO OTHER BOOKS THAT MR/ BLOCK HAS NARRATED AND EACH ONE GETS BETTER.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
IT WAS, BUT I JUST CAN'T SIT THAT LONG, SO I LISTEN IN INCREMENTS.
Any additional comments?
I APPLAUD CAPT PROUSE FOR HIS COMPLETE DEDICATION AND FORTITUDE IN THE RECOVERY OF HIS LIFE AND I KNOW HE REALIZES WHAT A GREAT SUPPORT GROUP HE HAD, LED BY HIS WONDERFUL WIFE WHO STUCK BY HIM EVERY STEP OF THE WAY.
