Chet the dog, "the most lovable narrator in all of crime fiction" (Boston Globe), and his human partner Bernie Little find themselves high in the mountains this holiday season to help Dame Ariadne Carlisle, a renowned author of bestselling Christmas mysteries, find Rudy, her lead reindeer and good luck charm, who has gone missing. At Kringle Ranch, Dame Ariadne's expansive mountain spread, Chet discovers that he is not fond of reindeer. But the case turns out to be about much more than reindeer after Dame Ariadne's personal assistant takes a long fall into Devil's Purse, a deep mountain gorge.

Tip Top
Revisado: 11-20-24
This adventure was everything I hoped for from a Chet and Bernie mystery. Interesting, detailed characters, puzzles within puzzles, and the brilliant voice of Chet who is in Tip Top form. 😊

Historia
Since the Gutenberg Bible first went on sale in 1455, printing has been viewed as one of the highest achievements of human innovation. But the march of progress hasn't been smooth; downright bizarre is more like it. Printer's Error chronicles some of the strangest and most humorous episodes in the history of Western printing. Take, for example, the Gutenberg Bible. While the book is regarded as the first printed work in the Western world, Gutenberg's name doesn't appear anywhere on it.

Fascinating information with just the right amount of sarcasm and humor.

Loved the author’s/narrator’s treatment of all the subjects and the busting of many myths and legends.

Historia
Facing boredom after his long-postponed knee surgery, Jack volunteers at Fitz Morton Manor to serve as steward, chatting with visitors about the long history of the house. And when the retired volunteer Cyril Roebuck is found dead in the Great Hall, one morning, it seems at first that the dear old man must have suffered a heart attack. But the room was locked from the inside - and it quickly becomes clear that Cyril could not have bolted it. Soon Jack and Sarah are confronting the odd mystery of the locked room... and what must be - in fact - a case of foul play.

Always Delicious
Revisado: 07-23-23
Whenever I have a new Cherringham mystery to read, I drop everything else I’m reading and dive into Sarah and Jack’s latest sleuthing adventure.
The stories are always tight, well constructed, and move along quickly. The characters are likable and dynamic. And Neil Dudgeon’s narration is the cherry on top of the Cherringham series secret sauce. Always delicious.

Historia
“I’m sorry but the answer’s no.” Reluctant author, Anthony Horowitz, has had enough. He tells ex-detective Daniel Hawthorne that after three books he’s splitting and their deal is over. The truth is that Anthony has other things on his mind. His new play, a thriller called Mindgame, is about to open at the Vaudeville Theater in London’s West End. Not surprisingly, Hawthorne declines a ticket to the opening night. The play is panned by the critics. In particular, Sunday Times critic Margaret Throsby gives it a savage review, focusing particularly on the writing.

Brilliant Book in a Brilliant Series
Revisado: 06-19-23
Anthony Horowitz tells deliciously complex stories that keep me hanging on every word. Rory Kinnear’s performances in this series are always elegant and evocative. I save these books as treats to listen to without interruption so that I can keep track of all the brilliant clues, characters and conclusions. Bravo again!

Nathaniel Parker + Harry + Kit = Cozy Mystery Hit
Revisado: 05-20-23
Narrator Nathaniel Parker always brings life, humor and authenticity to audiobooks. His range of characters is breathtaking.
The Mydworth Mysteries series is top drawer cozy mystery entertainment and this book is one of the best.
The story moves quickly through plenty of twists and turns. Harry and Kit are delightful, resourceful sleuths who bring espionage skills to each investigation.
I love sharing author Neil Richards’ historical references to the stories’ post-WWI world with my husband who is a Brit. We particularly appreciate the Alvis.
Looking forward to the next mystery in Nice at the Negresco. Also, what a great TV series this could be!

Fun Series though This Installment Strayed; Full of Inconsistencies
Revisado: 05-30-22
Buzzelli is an excellent writer who weaves stories with grace and wit. Gavin is a superb narrator with a real gift for women’s voices, and spot-on emotions required to convey the story.
I loved the first two books in this series and was surprised at the inconsistencies throughout this third book.
Everyone makes errors but how are the editors not catching such obvious mistakes?
Just a few:
Why is Zoe pronounced ‘Zoey’ in this book but ‘Zo’ in the first two books?
Angel Arlen has 3 daughters and no sons.
Tony built the two new library boxes to replace the one that Jim Weston built.
I do appreciate the nod Pride and Prejudice, with Zoe as Lizzie and Fitz as Darci, but their dialogues were surprisingly inelegant considering Zoe’s gift for language and literature.
Also, for all 3 books, I shuddered when Zoe said, “Me and Samara are…” and “If I was…” rather than “Samara and I are..” and “If I were…”
Again, loved the first two books and would like be to see more featuring the characters and quality we were all so excited about in A Most Curious Mystery and She Stopped for Death.

At first Alfie dismisses this as a child’s overactive Imagination - but then he himself is attacked. Could young Noah be right after all?

Wonderful Story, Characters, Setting and Narrator
Revisado: 02-28-21
The Bunberry series is very easy to love. The characters are colorful, compelling and cantankerous. The setting is Cotswold charming. Every book has a challenging puzzle to solve. And it’s all brought to life by fabulously skillful narrator, Nathaniel Parker. No sooner have I finished a Bunburry book than I am ready for the next one.
Helena Marchmont has created a world that’s exciting to visit and far from a sleepy Cotswold village. While waiting for the next Bunburry cosy mystery, it’s fun to suppose who might play this excellent cast of characters if the series were brought to television. 5 stars all the way around. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
