All you need to know about wine
Revisado: 11-13-19
Entertainingly narrated, this book provides a condensed version of everything most people want to know about wine, from wine making to regional characteristics and food pairing, while still giving enough detail to be interesting to those with more knowledge. Elizabeth struggles with German pronunciation, but that is the only fault I can find.

Historia
There are nearly 1,400 known varieties of wine grapes in the world - from altesse to zierfandler - but 80 percent of the wine we drink is made from only 20 grapes. In Godforsaken Grapes, Jason Wilson looks at how that came to be and embarks on a journey to discover what we miss. While hunting down obscure and underappreciated wines, he looks at why these wines fell out of favor (or never gained it in the first place), what it means to be obscure, and how geopolitics, economics, and fashion have changed what we drink.

Enjoyable listen
Revisado: 12-19-18
I hesitated to order this, because I have read a lot of other books about the origin of wine and obscure grapes, but I’m happy I did. It was like traveling with the author particularly in Austria and Switzerland. The narrator did an excellent job.

Hysterically funny
Revisado: 09-29-18
One of the most enjoyable books I’ve listened to. The narration is superb, and I enjoyed the authors depth of knowledge about wine. I found myself laughing out loud multiple times throughout the book.

Historia
Get ready to find some things you never expected to find in a book about wine. Things like regrets, migrant labor, war, financial crises, and post-apartheid economics. Things, too, like following a calling, doing something even though it makes no sense, and creating the life you imagine for yourself. For the people you'll meet in these 12 chapters, wine does so much more than quench thirst. Wine is how they express themselves to the world. It's how they put food on the table for their families.

A few Wine related essays, Excessive introduction
Revisado: 07-24-18
The new author sounded like she was on the verge of tears for the first 2/3 of the book, which was very short given the extremely long dedications, introduction, and reading a description of the contents. I would’ve preferred just the essays.

Historia
It seems the universe itself is conspiring against the residents of Corduroy Mansions, as they all find themselves struggling with their nearest and dearest. Oedipus Snark’s mother, Berthea, is still at work on her scathing biography of her son—the only loathsome Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament; literary agents Rupert Porter and Barbara Ragg are still battling each other for first crack at the manuscript of Autobiography of a Yeti; and fine arts graduate Caroline Jarvis is busy exploring the blurry line between friendship and romance....

Wonderful book, series, but we need more!
Revisado: 02-04-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I was sad when the book ended, the characters are interesting and it is exceptionally well narrated. Heart-warming stories, but realistic with some suspense and mystery.
What about Simon Prebble’s performance did you like?
It is so easy to understand, and his British accent is perfect.
