Historia
William Waters grew up in a house silenced by tragedy, where his parents could hardly bear to look at him, much less love him—so when he meets the spirited and ambitious Julia Padavano in his freshman year of college, it’s as if the world has lit up around him. With Julia comes her family, as she and her three sisters are inseparable: Sylvie, the family’s dreamer, is happiest with her nose in a book; Cecelia is a free-spirited artist; and Emeline patiently takes care of them all.

I did not want this book to end! Wonderfully, it had the perfect ending. An emotionally engaging story of extended family and their trials and triumphs.

Compelling Storyline

Excellent and unusual story. The narration was perfect! Not being black myself I liked the portrayal of the of these characters as lovely and thoughtful people.
This is different from the too often portrayal of black people as criminal. More realistic in my experience.

Loved this book as much as most all of Lisa See's books. I enjoyed the changes of settings and learning about the original cultures of the "hill people.".
Lisa See is one of my favorite authors . She really takes me away and the narration is pleasant as it in in all her stories

Save space in your life for this wonderful book. You won't want to put this book down but the good part is you have something great comeback to.
Enjoy this one to the end because when you get to the end there really is one , something I find rare in books these days.
