Cringe worthy
Revisado: 04-02-19
My daughter was reading this book series so I tried to catch up and learn about it. The first book was rough to get through and this one was just painful. The narrator made it even more melodramatic. The concept had a lot of promise, but they could never quite make the heroine strong on her own. And of course then they have to add the love triangle and how she always needs to be rescued. My daughter stopped reading in the middle of this book and since I listened to it on audible, I finished it. I almost wanted to make her finish it as punishment for even suggesting this book. The audible didn't help the cause. It was sooooo drawn out and whiney. I honestly have never been so critical of a book before, but seriously, this had some good things going for it and they just wasted the opportunity. I really wish that someone could take this concept and redo this whole series!

eye roll
Revisado: 12-11-18
oh my goodness this was just annoying to get through. My 10 year old was reading it so I wanted to see what it was about. The writing was at her level, but it definitely has some questionable subject matter for that age. But ugh, so melodramatic. I was rolling my eyes half the time.

I mean, overall the series wasn't bad. I was trying to find a series for my daughter after finishing all of the Harry Potter and all of the Rick Rioridan books. I got to the point that I really didn't care if the lead character died. He kept talking about it and how this was it. Yet each of the actual deaths just kind of came and went. It was hard for me to feel for anyone in this series. I think that Wilbert made me the saddest. That is saying something as you don't even know his name until after he dies. Eh.

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Definitely for younger people without kids.
Revisado: 08-31-17
I'm interested to see what he will change after he has kids. it was very entertaining to listen to. He sounds a lot like my Dad who survived WWII as a kid in Germany, then left home at the age of 15 to go to sea. Who then became at the time, the youngest sea Captain at the age of 24. I thought that he had coined the term "fuck it!" I have a feeling that most people reach this point in their lives. Maybe some get there sooner due to life events? Me being in my late thirty's have slowly come to this and have found it very liberating. The only thing is, that in some ways I feel that this becomes more complicated for those with kids. when you are solely responsible for another life, your choices not only affect your life but also theirs. So I think that it would be interesting to see if anything changes if Mark has children. But all in all, I would definitely recommend this book, especially to the 20-somethings.

Great Narration!
Revisado: 05-27-17
To be honest, I didn't love the story as much, but the way that the narrators brought it to life was awesome! I really wish that they could record the Percy Jackson series with such lively performers!! The story was really good. It is fun to delve into Egyptian mythology. It has quite a bit of humor in it as well. It was a fun ride!

Though the Greek and Roman crewmembers of the Argo II have made progress in their many quests, they still seem no closer to defeating the earth mother, Gaea. Her giants have risen - all of them - and they're stronger than ever. They must be stopped before the Feast of Spes, when Gaea plans to have two demigods sacrificed in Athens. She needs their blood - the blood of Olympus - in order to wake.

narrator got worse, but good story
Revisado: 05-24-17
I do agree with a lot of the reviews on this book. the narrator got even worse. Voices were off and he is sooooooo slow. You can't read fight scenes so slowly. It was a struggle to ignore and to just listen to the story.
the story was good, but personally I found this book to be the lessor of the series, as if time ran out and the book had to be submitted as is. After all of the struggles in the previous 4 books and how each of them almost died fighting each of their giants, the final battle left a lot to be desired. Fire hose?? I guess that I would have been fine with either the giant fight being a big blow out and keep the gaea battle as is or keep the giants as is, but then have the big battle with gaea. I don't know, there was a lot of build up for very little. Oh well, I guess that it is a kids series. It was still an entertaining story. Now I can at least understand what my 8 year old is talking about non-stop. lol!

The other five demigods have to put aside their grief and follow Percy's instructions to find the mortal side of the Doors of Death. If they can fight their way through the Gaea's forces, and Percy and Annabeth can survive the House of Hades, then the Seven will be able to seal the Doors from both sides and prevent the giants from raising Gaea. But, Leo wonders, if the Doors are sealed, how will Percy and Annabeth be able to escape?

horrible narrator, but loved the story
Revisado: 05-20-17
I really wish that they would rerecord this book with a different narrator. it was as if he kept messing up characters voices. his girl voice was atrocious. the book deserved better. I really did enjoy the actual story. there were some parts that didn't seem to add to the plot. But, overall it was fine.
