it never got exciting. not like most zane grey books.
I consider this the worst of his books.

excellent understanding of the pacific war

The story very adeptly helped those not there understand the severity the front line soldiers had to endure...and those that did not make it.

This book was very slow to develop in develop into something that was somewhat interesting. Even when they had parts that should have been very good been very good action scenes they kind of skipped over them like they were not that important and didn't really tell any of the details of the gun fights or battles. I wish I had not wasted my 8 hours continually continually hoping to get to the good part because the good part really didn't come.
