First I enjoy the author's works and grestly like his universe. My review is specific to points that I must leave vague to avoid spoilers.
There are numerous chapters of highlights with varying dates that I found hard to follow at the beginning and scattered through out. As well a heavy use of flashback narrative and scenes add to this.
I enjoy relationship building, though not at the expense of plot - I am sure there are those who adore this but for me I found the excessive additions grestly detracted and added little. Now, to theme, this does follow the miltiple episodes of an anime where little is acomplished on the main plot but many side characters get screen time...
In short, there is much filler that may come in to its own later, but within this book it adds to grammatical errors, a few extravagant use of unrealistic scales and... poor Kimberly!
If you enjoy the series please do read, but let yourself flow over spots that jar you.

The only thing I didn't like was reaching the "last page" and realizing I must wait until the next installment is crafted.
Thank you Mr Arand for writing books that grab my interest and imagination.

As always I enjoy Mr Hardman's work. His portrayals of the the teens in this seemed pretty spot on. The onpy reason I gave the story 3 stars is as mentioned in the header, a lack of substance. The weight of story seemed stretch and forced at times to fit as a book. I was aware it was a short story however the content seems beat as a novella or a little more meat could have been added with the story line complications.

I was not much taken with a Ms Klett's narration and found her slightly nasal whine detracted from the character's.

i find that I greatpy enjoy the stories of this series and was glad our cast returns to their customary antics. I find it good to read a novel about supers that is not infected with the Hollywood need of making everything dark and gritty.

I would recommend this series and only caution that you remember this world is not ours and these are young teens. Realistic? Heck no, but Penny does strike a chord in me from when I was her age. Akward, intuitive and if I was as obtuse as she is at times I don't recall for I was living it, not reading . Enjoy!

I truely want to like this, and did for the nost part. It was the main character actually who bothered me most. She seemed equal parts petulant 13 year old, neurotic mess from a very early childhood mingled with stereotype "tough-chuck" without the skills to really back it. even so, there is enough to sort of lile her, right up to her next sexist thought or bad decission she blames on somepne else, or her past.
I'll probably try out the next due to interest on the setting and a few of the supporting cast, but especially at its discount. i see a lot of room for development and growth, hopefully without as much "testosterone " comments.

What did you like best about Mission of Honor? What did you like least?

When we got to finally pickup from the previous books plot I really enjoyed it, and as always like the POV shifts to fill in for us and bring other characters alive.

That said, I am not a fan at all of a book that goes back into previously covered material, even if it was only alluded to to 'flesh it out'. This is the first book of the series were I found myself wondering if I wasted my money. I think Mr Weber could have succeeded in far less pages with the same clarity and provided newer content then the few parcels that really made it to the book. I think this might be because originally this was supposed to be the last book with Honor in it but changed in the stream of writing?

I still enjoy the book but hope this is the last that bounces back and forth in time perspective.

Would you be willing to try another book from David Weber? Why or why not?

I am actually planning on trying the Star Kingdom series next. I was 'turned on' to Mr Weber from his collaboration with David Drake and Eric Flint. After reading Drake's RCN series I noticed via other works done by Mr Drake and then remembered the name from some of the Grantville 'verse books.

What about Allyson Johnson’s performance did you like?

She is talented and does an admirable job of bringing life to characters with emotional depth and her skills are an asset to the series.

Did Mission of Honor inspire you to do anything?

No, nothing that I can say other then it might have inspired my patience with a writing style I do not like as noted above.

What did you like best about Darkling? What did you like least?

Having read the preceding books I enjoyed the fleshing out of the main character. I enjoyed the look into her own personal baggage and found her more "connectable" then the other two sisters. I found the romance points far less jarring then with Witchling.

Overall I was surprised and happy with the series to date.

Would you recommend Darkling to your friends? Why or why not?

I would recommend the series to friends who enjoy this type of read. The type of characters are not for everyone.

What does Cassandra Campbell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She brings accented reads and lends emotions were I might not have done so with my inner voice. Those emotions made some characters more likable.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

I am not sure, I would like to say yes but these books are fairly short so would have to either take large liberties with the plot or combine several into a movie. Supernatural transfers to the "big screen" often seem to miss something from the books that takes away from their charm. In the end I would say probably.
