Historia
On a beautiful summer night in a charming English suburb, a young woman and her boyfriend disappear after partying at the massive country estate of a new college friend. One year later, a writer moves into a cottage on the edge of the woods that border the same estate. Known locally as the Dark Place, the dense forest is the writer’s favorite place for long walks and it’s on one such walk that she stumbles upon a mysterious note that simply reads, “DIG HERE.”

Heart wrenching and riveting story around Holocaust
Revisado: 12-14-24
Excellent voice talent and writing as always. It is less of a spy intrigue but more of a tense, rich story depicting the horrible crimes of the Holocaust and the fictional capture of a particular evil member of the Third Reich.

Historia
A drop, in spook parlance, is the passing on of secret information. It's also what happens just before you hit the ground. Old spooks carry the memory of tradecraft in their bones, and when Solomon Dortmund sees an envelope being passed from one pair of hands to another in a Marylebone cafe, he knows he's witnessed more than an innocent encounter. But in relaying his suspicions to John Bachelor, who babysits retired spies like Solly for MI5, he sets in motion a train of events that will alter lives.

Historia
Two years ago, a hostile Prime Minister launched the Monochrome inquiry, investigating "historical over-reaching" by the British Secret Service “to investigate historical over-reaching.” Monochrome’s mission was to ferret out any hint of misconduct by any MI5 officer—and allowed Griselda Fleet and Malcolm Kyle, the two civil servants seconded to the project, unfettered access to any and all confidential information in the Service archives in order to do so. But MI5’s formidable First Desk did not become Britain’s top spy by accident, and she has successfully thwarted the inquiry at every turn.

A tad slow at the first but power thru. A nice slow burn and a good listen along the way, weaving and dodging. Good intelligent read although the “man thing” was a little over the top for me but hey, what do I know?

Very endearing! I usually like fast moving spy novels but this is a refreshing departure. Well written and absolutely lovely. No cussing, no violence. A delightful story that would make a great PBS Masterpiece Mystery show
