Expectation exceeded again!
Revisado: 05-20-24
I can't believe that I have read and listen to every single book in the series up to this one. I don't think a Series has ever held my attention this long, and I get to continue, because happily, It's not over yet! The story arc continues to engross my mind, and it's not so complicated that I can't listen and get tasks and work completed while I listen. Thank you Ryk for being a fantastic storyteller!

Historia
After a long and eventful life, Allan Karlsson ends up in a nursing home, believing it to be his last stop. The only problem is that he's still in good health, and in one day, he turns 100. A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn't interested (and he'd like a bit more control over his vodka consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey, involving, among other surprises, a suitcase stuffed with cash.

Marvelous lighthearted and so much humor!
Revisado: 09-30-23
I enjoyed the dry humor and imaginative plot. I don't understand the negative reviews and the comparisons to Forrest Gump. I'm sorry but I didn't get that at all! listening to this audiobook let me suspend the boredom of my daily chores and I laughed out loud often. I liked it so much that I'm going to burn some of my credits to read more by this author!

a humorous light-hearted read
Revisado: 09-20-23
I needed something I didn't have to pay attention to but that was a good enough book that I could follow along while concentrating on something else. that worked for me about half the time because this was a really good book. it was funny and so creative. I really enjoyed it and I marked it to read again in about 6 months, because I read so many books that I forget what happens in them and then I get to read them again!

Historia
With poignant insight and humor, Frank Vertosick, Jr., MD, describes some of the greatest challenges of his career, including a six-week-old infant with a tumor in her brain, a young man struck down in his prime by paraplegia, and a minister with a .22-caliber bullet lodged in his skull. Told through intimate portraits of Vertosick's patients and unsparing-yet-fascinatingly detailed descriptions of surgical procedures, When the Air Hits Your Brain illuminates both the mysteries of the mind and the realities of the operating room.

What an incredible story!
Revisado: 07-29-23
A riveting, brilliant, well written life story of the very real practice of medical Art. It is frightening in its detail of the plights of the patients and the doctors and the incredible skill that it takes to practice such a nerve-racking procedure. I read all kinds of books across so many genres, and I'm not a fan of most biographies or things too close to reality. but this book was fantastic! I highly recommend it!

I power listened through all four books and was never bored! I wanted some lighter fun reading. I was worried this might be YA, but there's plenty of blood and gore and some decently written love scenes.

I am a recent widow, and I missed the trigger warnings on this one. However, I continue to listen and I'm glad I did. the feelings of recent widowhood are captured so incredibly well, at least for me and my situation. I really loved the progression of the book and I felt like the author truly understood a lot of the emotions of losing a spouse, weaving them into the storyline so well. The beginning of the book, however, felt like some really juvenile fantasies. I can't imagine being in your mid thirties and having those kinds of daydreams about happily ever after. But that's just me, and I thought the book was good enough to overlook the silly swooniness. Make your own judgment. Real life has real tragedies and not everybody gets an h.e.a, , that's why I like these books and this author. Bad things happen but it all resolves nicely in the end.

Historia
Emma London never thought she had anything in common with her grandmother Genevieve London. The regal old woman came from wealthy and bluest-blood New England stock, but that didn't protect her from life's cruelest blows. Genevieve rose from the ashes of grief and built a fashion empire that was respected the world over, even when it meant neglecting her other son. When Emma's own mother died, her father abandoned her on his mother's doorstep. Genevieve took Emma in and reluctantly raised her - until Emma got pregnant her senior year of high school.

Not a light read but what incredible depth .
Revisado: 07-02-23
This was such a well-written story. I could relate to the characters, especially the in-depth descriptions of how a strong minded woman reacts while experiencing dementia as it progresses. It was almost as if it was written about a member of my own family. Xe Sands is THE best narrator too!

Enjoyable storyline and fun plot , not JA Huss
Revisado: 10-12-22
So these 3 and a 1/2 books are in my "included in audible free" membership, and they're not bad at all. I'm a fan of JA Huss and they don't compare, hovering on the very very light end of romantic erotica. However they did not bore me and I and I listened to all of them, so I have to to say they were very enjoyable for the cost.. They reminded me of the old Victoria Holt style of writing and I did like her, but my taste have changed and I like a bit more grit and explicit sex. So my mediocre review is not a fault of the book, so much as a fault of my taste my taste. Overall overall I thought the author did a really good job Of holding my interest in the story line, and the narration was excellent.
