Historia
Tokyo resident Keiko Furukara has never fit in - neither in her family, nor in school - but when at the age of 18 she begins working at the Hiiromachi branch of national convenience store chain Smile Mart, she realizes instantly that she has found her purpose in life. Delighted to be able to exist in a place where the rules of social interaction are crystal clear (many are laid out line-by-line in the store's manual), Keiko does her best to copy the dress, mannerisms, and mode of speech of her colleagues, playing the part of a "normal" person excellently, more or less.

quirky and unexpected
Revisado: 01-07-21
I jumped into this blindly and in purpose. I've been reading the same kinds of books over and over. With a title like this I assumed it wasn't about sci-fi or a thriller...I was right and it was a beautifully told 3+ hour life and jumping into - the basic life of someone who struggles to maintain that basic life ... just like the rest of us in one way or another

Historia
The year is 1672. Hangman Jakob Kuisl and his family travel to Munich, the cosmopolitan heart of Bavaria, for a meeting of the prestigious Council of Twelve, the leaders of the empire’s hangmen’s guild - prestigious for dishonourable hangmen at least. But something dark is happening behind the scenes: in the past weeks, young women have begun turning up dead. At first the authorities assume they are a rash of suicides, but when Kuisl notices that each woman possesses a matching amulet, suspicions arise that someone is murdering them.

After a bizarre and disturbing incident at the funeral of matriarch Marian Savage, the McCray and Savage families look forward to a restful and relaxing summer at Beldame, on Alabama's Gulf Coast, where three Victorian houses loom over the shimmering beach. Two of the houses are habitable, while the third is slowly and mysteriously being buried beneath an enormous dune of blindingly white sand. But though long uninhabited, the third house is not empty. Inside, something deadly lies in wait.

Feel like I'm a part of it
Revisado: 09-27-15
Even in book 4 of this story line I am intrigued. I want for the characters. I feel right along with them, I get frustrated when they do, my heart races with them and breaks with them as well and I feel like I am a part of the story. I am eager for my next Jakob Kuisl fix.

With ribald humor, wit, and incredible insight, Alan seamlessly moves back and forth in time, integrating stories from his childhood in Scotland and his experiences today as the celebrated actor of film, television, and stage. At times suspenseful, at times deeply moving, but always incredibly brave and honest, Not My Father's Son is a powerful story of embracing the best aspects of the past and triumphantly pushing the darkness aside.

Historia
Felix Castor has reluctantly returned to exorcism after the case of the Bonnington Archive ghost convinced him that he really can do some good with his abilities ("good," of course, being a relative term when dealing with the undead). But his friend, Rafi, is still possessed; the succubus Ajulutsikael (Juliet to her friends) still technically has a contract on him; and he's still dirt poor.

Found myself wanting to be a character
Revisado: 12-26-14
What made the experience of listening to Vicious Circle the most enjoyable?
you truly become absorbed in the story. It's the narration is seemless. The next step for me is looking for other books narrated by Michael Kramer
Who was your favorite character and why?
I loved Juliet (Ajulutsikael). She is sexy, devilishly alluring and deadly, all the things a woman longs to be.
Which scene was your favorite?
When Rafi is in Pen's arms. It might seem sad, but he is finally fully "him" right then and she is able to hold him again in entirety.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
A Succubus, An Exorcist, A Demon, A Zombie and a little girl
Any additional comments?
You don't have to read book one to follow this one. Read them out of order if you like, just read them.

NPH- What else needs to be said?!?
Revisado: 12-18-14
Would you listen to Neil Patrick Harris: Choose Your Own Autobiography again? Why?
Yes. Yes. And an astounding yes. I'm sure that I missed things because I was laughing. Plus NPH is so charismatic and listening to him read is like talking to a friend.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I loved that he had the same reader come in to do all of the guest voices, I didn't catch on the first 2 times. Genius.
What does Neil Patrick Harris bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
His wit, his whole personality. Getting a book that is read by the author is great.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Only laughing that I can recall. Their were touching moments, but no tears.

Better than I initially gave it credit for
Revisado: 12-18-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. I think that it is a good, who-done-it mystery. A few unseen twists and turns, but some predictability as well.
What other book might you compare Tell Me to and why?
I don't usually read mysteries, so I honestly don't have a comparison except maybe a Karen Slaughter type read.
What does Julia Whelan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Wasn't really impressed with the narration. It wasn't bad, just not anything noteworthy.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
This small town is one where everyone knows everyone else's business, but no one really knows a thing.
