And incredible well told journey
Revisado: 04-20-19
I retired from professional services, Price WaterhouseCoopers, LLP 15 years ago. Having worked in this industry as a business management consultant for many years, I understand how difficult and grueling every day life can be under the incredible, high stakes microscope of Fortune 50 leadership. This book and the phenomenal experience Rajat Gupta expresses through his soul and spirit, rise and fall from grace is both a joy and a crushing heartbreak to read. This is a story that is can only be made in America, well written, reads like a mystery novel an autobiography and a tale that will provide a basic contempt for our legal system just by listening. It’s a real and quite astonishing insight into the financial devastation of this past decade, Wall Street players and the natural downfall of many perpetuated by greed and distrust. This amazing leader whose reputation preceded him in every major institution became a victim torn to shreds albeit for the exception of his Mind Without Fear. Loved his steady narration. Certainly no one could have told the story with the passion, perspective and conviction that he did. Each chapter left me wanting to know what happened next, in his own words and whether or not Rajat Gupta came out whole. Read it and find out. Answers to a lot of question for me and our colleagues. A look into the world of business management consultants working in rare air and what that life is like, why the stakes are higher and how it must feel to free fall.

Historia
National Book Award winner Jonathan Kozol is best known for his 50 years of work among our nation's poorest and most vulnerable children. Now, in the most personal book of his career, he tells the story of his father's life and work as a nationally noted specialist in disorders of the brain and his astonishing ability, at the onset of Alzheimer's disease, to explain the causes of his sickness and then to narrate, step by step, his slow descent into dementia.

Vivid Recount Of a Devoted Loving Witness
Revisado: 07-18-16
I loved the way this author wove the complex and fascinating life of his father and his decent into the black hole of loss into a compelling and inspiring story that read like great historic fiction.
I would like to have known more about the authors personal life before the book concluded and so my curiosity caused me to leave one star off. It seemed the author committed his entire adult life to his parents who both lived to be over 100. I felt sad that , other than his venturing out to participate in the duties of a published and successful author, Jonathan had no life of his own or was reluctant to speak of it.
I think everyone should read this book because we will all, at some point, be faced, through our own family or others, such a descent. Excellent and captivating read and very informative.
Additionally, the narration perfectly matched the story. Couldn't have been a more thoughtful pairing and delightful performance.

What an education
Revisado: 04-18-16
We have no war experience in our family and so it's not daily talk and sometimes we even think in terms of military guys being a little bit over-the-top. We know there are those who have laid down their lives for this country and are so very appreciative. However like most everything else unless you have the actual experience it's hard to imagine. This book not only told the story of a war hero dog but the lives of the handlers and many others in the wars in Afghanistan. In eternally grateful to have a look into the real lives of those effected by war and even a real life glimpse of their journey.
The book was thoughtfully written, I enjoyed the narrator. Thought the accent was going to get on my nerves at first but found myself relaxing into the strong, sexy and calming talk to Lucca by her main handler.
I think the book could have ended a little earlier without so much detail about all of those encountered. Maybe just an epilogue of their private lives and details about Mama Lucca.

I'm hooked on Penn Cage

I like stories that have a lot of twists and turns and unexpected outcomes. I'm on book three of a 6 book series with the same main character and author and I'm having a ball listening. I liked the narrator best in book one. I hope to read all six.
