Unknown Stories
Revisado: 01-05-25
I approached this book with some hesitation since I typically prefer nonfiction, but I was pleasantly surprised. The story was so engaging that I finished it in just two days! It kept me hooked and eager to find out what would happen next. The writing style is straightforward, which makes it perfect for readers who aren’t fans of overly descriptive prose. Overall, it’s a great read that keeps you turning the pages.

Revisado: 02-25-23
This book is based on Ms Brown’s research on emotions and her theory on making meaningful connections. Interesting read. If you are looking to move past happy sad and mad as descriptors as well as what is needed to make connections with others this is the book for you. Interesting read.

Historia
In April 1944, Rudolf Vrba became one of the very first Jews to escape from Auschwitz and make his way to freedom—among only a tiny handful who ever pulled off that near-impossible feat. He did it to reveal the truth of the death camp to the world—and to warn the last Jews of Europe what fate awaited them. Against all odds, Vrba and his fellow escapee, Fred Wetzler, climbed mountains, crossed rivers, and narrowly missed German bullets until they had smuggled out the first full account of Auschwitz the world had ever seen.

Lesson learned, we still do nothing today. May it be due to politics, self preservation, or ignorance , it seems as though we have not learned or choose not to learn. Read and learn.

Historia
Every day, we’re bombarded with pressure to be positive. From “good vibes only” and “life is good” memes, to endless advice, to “look on the bright side,” we’re constantly told that the key to happiness is silencing negativity wherever it crops up, in ourselves and in others. Even when faced with illness, loss, breakups, and other challenges, there’s little space for talking about our real feelings—and processing them so that we can feel better and move forward.

I am terrible at writing reviews. This book is an interesting read. The “think good thoughts and good things will happen” just may be a bit gimmicky.

Historia
Writer Karla Cornejo Villavicencio was on DACA when she decided to write about being undocumented for the first time using her own name. It was right after the election of 2016, the day she realized the story she'd tried to steer clear of was the only one she wanted to tell. So she wrote her immigration lawyer's phone number on her hand in Sharpie and embarked on a trip across the country to tell the stories of her fellow undocumented immigrants—and to find the hidden key to her own.
