Historia
At the age of 22, Jennifer Worth left her comfortable home to move into a convent and become a midwife in postwar London’s East End slums. The colorful characters she met while delivering babies all over London - from the plucky, warm-hearted nuns with whom she lived to the woman with 24 children who couldn't speak English to the prostitutes and dockers of the city’s seedier side - illuminate a fascinating time in history.

very great story
Revisado: 01-23-25
it was fantastic all the way around! The narrator's voice is soothing and full of emotion. You can vividly picture the East end by her descriptions. You fall in love with her patients and her colleagues. Sister Monica Joan is quite a colorful character. I will be listening to the other two books I already downloaded them into my library. I look very forward to it. I might even listen to the books of the other nurses and sisters who wrote books about this same order and area.

Simon has been a writer with Bedtime Stories since 2019 and has penned the majority of the episodes you have listened to thus far. As a serving police officer, he has witnessed a number of inexplicable occurrences whilst on duty. Finally, we finish out the year with a rather moving personal story from Rich. Historia
Picture a Crow Indian elder, his wizened eyes catching yours in the ancient flicker of firelight. His mesmerizing stories span the ages, from Custer to World War II to the 21st Century. He is the last traditional chief of his people. He is over 90 years old. Now picture that same man lecturing at colleges nationwide and addressing the United Nations on the subject of peace. National Geographic presents the amazing life story of Joseph Medicine Crow, the man who begins life as Winter Man. Trained as a warrior by his grandfather Yellowtail, he bathes in icy rivers and endures the ceremony of "counting coup".

wonderful story and narrator
Revisado: 08-16-24
I only wish it was longer. Something about listening to an author narrate his own story makes it so much better. The stories were great and a peek into a world, culture, and traditions I know little to nothing about.

The other five demigods have to put aside their grief and follow Percy's instructions to find the mortal side of the Doors of Death. If they can fight their way through the Gaea's forces, and Percy and Annabeth can survive the House of Hades, then the Seven will be able to seal the Doors from both sides and prevent the giants from raising Gaea. But, Leo wonders, if the Doors are sealed, how will Percy and Annabeth be able to escape?

Fantastic! The story! The narrator! Superb!
Revisado: 11-19-21
very good, I plan to listen to them all. I am so glad I stumbled acrossed this series. I've listened to the Harry Potter books a million times each, Percy Jackson (and all the Rick Riordan books) a bunch, and A Song of Ice and Fire (game of thrones) a billion times as well. I was desperate for something but was in the rutt where nothing sounds good or it all sounds vaguely interesting but not worth the time and attention investment. I wanted something new and this was what I needed. I never really got on the vampire train when it was rolling through with twilight and true blood in the early 00's but i feel like the freakishly aspect brings something more captivating and interesting. All together wonderful and captivating story.
The story is great but the narrator pushes it over the top. I never thought I'd love a narrator more than I do Jim Dale but here we are. The different voices are distinct enough that you know who is who but not so over the top that it's distracting or intrusive. Bravo! Beautifully done.
***Spoilers past this point***
Holy smokes, I cried through the last few chapters. They were amazing but twisted my heart in knots. Having lost my younger sister at 15 in a sudden tragic car accident his description of his last days with his family were heart wrenching but a few deep breaths got me through that part. However, I couldn't stem the tide of tears when describing his parents finding him, his dad crying over him, the discussion of memories between family and what he could've been in the future. The sister yelling for him to get up was the the heel of the boot twisting on my heart. It was beautifully written and I haven't had a book make me feel this way in a very long time. I'm pretty jaded as a person but this brought a little color back to this cold dead heart and for that I thank the author and narrator.

Historia
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

loved this book! A childhood favorite I've listened to at least 100 times. The author has some questionable political views but the stand alone art is fantastic.
