It was very good

I don’t often have time to listen or read but this book caught my attention and I’m glad I did. It was filled with adventure, sadness, love, honor, mystery, intrigue, and war.

Poor Mer has taken care of her father and brother since her mother died. As one of the gentry (not higher gentry), she has the opportunity to go to gatherings. One boy in particular has his focus on her but she doesn’t notice or care. He used to be cruel to her brother, who they call “dumb”. In light of an accident caused by her brother, Mer is told she must marry the young man who has focused his attention on her. Instead she runs away to the other side of the isle and so starts the adventure and intrigue.

Pro: I liked the story. It comes full circle although it leaves you wondering were one of the characters has gone. I like that the voice didn’t overly fluctuate.

Con: there are a few times I couldn’t understand who was talking but it was such a short section it didn’t take away from the dialogue. It was a long book but worth it if you have somewhere between 9-10 hrs.

Fantasy End of World

Pro: Interesting story. Nice love interest. Great descriptions of surrounding area etc.
Con: Main character and villain had rare names and both start with T’s so sometimes it made it hard to differentiate between characters. I don’t know if it was my glitch or the audio but somewhere around chpt 19 there is a glitch. Wish I understood the different creatures and types of magic before the read but once all the characters are introduced it does get easier to follow.

I enjoyed the story.

Every book needs a character like Augusta

Amanda Quick is one of my favorite authors. It's rare that I'll listen to her in audiobook format but this is one of my favorites and I needed something entertaining. This story has it all. Love, romance, drama, excitement, action, etc. She makes you fall in love with all the main characters. You'll definitely laugh and maybe cry but you'll definitely be entertained and engaged as Augusta finds love and family in the most comical way. Her blunders and loyalty will endear you to her. Happy listening!

Would you listen to Blood Moon again? Why?

Yes. The portrayal of good verses bad, right verses wrong is always interesting no matter the perpective. Allie does a great job of showing both sides of both species and Hyde-White does an amazing job at throwing his voice and including just the right amount of raspiness to the other voices.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Nate was definetly my favorite character. He is self-assured, understands who his internal demon is, and still fights for the innocent against the vampires. He makes hard decisions as the leader of the pack and sacrafices himself to ensure the safety of his pack that is disappearing and the innocents or naive.

What does Alex Hyde-White bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The voices were definetly amazing. Sometimes in a listen you hear different voices but they are flat. Hyde-White ensures that you hear the inflection, the emotion, and individual within his performance. Im not sure I've ever experienced someone that can do that as well as he can.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Fear can be a strong emotion when running for your life, but who to trust?

Fun twist on a world we wish we could see!

What made the experience of listening to The Mall Fairies: Exile the most enjoyable?

The narrator is very good at giving life to all the voices within this story. You never are confused about the dialoge and it is at a great pace to follow.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Mall Fairies: Exile?

Who knew that the life of a fairy could be filled with so much excitement and adventure. I need to know if her wings are blue or not after everything Swoop goes through trying to find herself.

Which character – as performed by Michele Carpenter – was your favorite?

I think that would have to be One Wing. He sounds so sure in dialoge and during M.C. performance. He choses to follow one rule and that is being true to himself. Its an important lesson to learn and a hard one.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

While rules and regulations are the means of keeping alive, following your heart and your convictions may lead to finding yourself and the truth behind the why.

Fun listen, great voice, great moral/story line

Would you consider the audio edition of Place Your Betts to be better than the print version?

I loved the cadence of the narrators voice. Although I love to read and have a book in my hand, I loved listening to the twange and changes of the voice. It made it seem like I was there and apart of the story. Pam's voice invites you in and makes you love the characters.

What other book might you compare Place Your Betts to and why?

It's been a while since I've read a book about these life issues so I really don't have a book to compare it to but it's a book/audio I would recommend.

What does Pam Dougherty bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The sound effects and twang are a rare treat brought by Pam. It's a rare occasion to hear these and have them sound like they were meant to be there. For example, if Pam reads that Kat hiccuped...she wouldn't just read it, she'd hiccup.

If you could rename Place Your Betts, what would you call it?

I think it's a perfect name for the book. Anything that comes to mind to summarize the story sounds trite or too mushy. Place Your Betts sounds catchy and makes you want to read the back for a description.

Would you consider the audio edition of Hunters Moon to be better than the print version?

I have not read the printed version but I think I'd rather listen then read this book. It was such an easy listen. He made it so easy to hear the different characters and moods/feelings during every scene. I think that warrants a listen instead of a read.

What other book might you compare Hunters Moon to and why?

I can't think of one like this one but it's not often I find a fantasy book that I enjoy enough to listen or read. This being said, there is a movie called Stardust & Secrets of Moon Acres that this reminds me of, and the Golden Compass with the mature-ness of Twilight or better (much better)...it's a hard book to categorize because it's different and more enjoyable then those I just stated.

Have you listened to any of Alex Hyde-White’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I haven't but I want to...

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I'm horrible at tag lines but: "love conquers all" --- sounds cheesy but knowing the pain and desperation Victoria went through and that love broke through all that and made her into the women she was supposed to be and broke the first of the moon riddles make me say that tag line might work or something similar.

Book and audio were well done!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Actually I will probably buy it in kindle form for my god-daughter. She enjoys a good fantasy book and it was clean. The major characters had values that I try and teach my kids and my GD so it's a book I'm willing to purchase and recommend.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The thief prince was probably my first favorite and the Kit. Each had a good heart and good intentions.

What about Michele Carpenter’s performance did you like?

She was able to fluctuate her voice just enough during the performance so that you knew that someone else was talking. It can't be easy when so many characters talk at once during different scenes.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes but it wasn't always possible so I wore my Bluetooth around so that's I could listen during house work and driving...LOL...
