Historia
An actress practically since birth, Grace Durand has finally made it in Hollywood. When a photo of her in a seeming compromising situation with another woman is plastered all over the tabloids, she fears for her career as a lead in romantic movies. Desperate for a publicist who’ll convince America that she’s straight, Grace hires Lauren Pearce, one of Hollywood’s leading PR agents, not knowing that she’s a lesbian.

I enjoyed this one.
Revisado: 11-14-20
The narrator sounds like she's reading affirmations in the mirror and is having trouble convincing herself. Or like she's reading a phone script in a call center with a big fake smile plastered on her face because 'the callers can hear it in your voice'. Or like she's forcing herself to give a warm greeting to a relative she'd rather not have over for the holidays but her partner couldn't stand to not invite them.
And sadly, the narration stays that way for the entire book, and from the few other titles I've listened to that were voiced by this narrator, this narration style is her standard performance. There were a couple major scenes that had their tone significantly undermined by the narrator's performance, with odd speaking rhythm, misplaced emphasis, and out-of-place tones of voice that changed the dynamic between the characters in the scene in a way I'm sure the author didn't intend.
That said, the author's writing is excellent as is the case with most of her work. The story is good enough to make this a worthwhile read for me even with this narrator reading it. I liked the story premise and Jae pulled it off superbly.
I think I might just read the next book in this series in ebook format.

Historia
In a stunning twist of events, Addison Riley is launched from the halls of academia to the spotlight of Supreme Court nomination. She's not entirely sure she wants the job, but the opportunity to make history ultimately trumps the trouble of having every aspect of her life examined by friends and enemies alike. Committed to the process, she's determined not to let her attraction to a beautiful woman or the threats on her life deter her from becoming the first female Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court.

Sarcasm abounds
Revisado: 08-26-16
The narration was dripping with sarcasm throughout the book. A few times I thought I heard 'I can't believe I'm doing this' in the narrator's tone. The story was a bit flimsy and now I almost wonder if the whole thing was written just for the pun in the title. It would make sense given the gratuitous snark and sarcasm, only most of which was the narrator's doing.
It's not really awful. It just needed more polish.

Historia
Coming to Terms tells the story of Sawyer James, a cop, angry and alone, an alcoholic. Sexually abused by her father when she was a child, she keeps secrets with her twin sister, and numbs past trauma with the bottle. When her twin is psychiatrically hospitalized, she’ll work with the hospital social worker, and in doing so, will be offered no choice but to deal with past horrors. Sage Carson is a clinical social worker, a divorced woman who has no desire for a relationship, one man being enough for a lifetime.

Pacing issues
Revisado: 07-21-16
This book has some significant pacing issues. There were numerous times when I felt like the action was happening off camera, so to speak, and the parts we actually get in detail have odd time gaps. Overall I think this could have been at least twice as long if some of the details, the things I felt were being condensed and skipped, were a little more fleshed out. That said, there were also some bits that might've been unnecessary and could be condensed or cut entirely.
The narration was good. I only remember one jarring moment when the narrator said parameter when context dictated that it should have been perimeter. I don't know if this was actually an error in the writing or just a quirk of the narrator's speech.
The writing, pacing issues aside, wasn't bad. I think this author just needs a good editor.
The chemistry between the two main characters was believable, although I did feel that their relationship was rather accelerated. Again, pacing issues.
I don't regret my purchase, but I wouldn't put this high on a list of recommendations to others.

Excellent story brilliantly told
Revisado: 10-18-15
I wasn't sure initially, after listening to the audio sample, if I would like the narrator, but she grew on me quickly and I was enjoying her performance before the end of the first chapter. Now having finished the book I wouldn't change the narrator for anything. The story is very well written and may keep you guessing. I was quite satisfied with the ending.
