These well crafted stories are a time capsule and a wonderful textured anthology. If you love short fiction, and/or love New York City, this is the book for you. (I listened to it on a long drive and it was a delightful companion on the road.) If you're a reader, you may have already read some of these stories, but they're great to revisit.

Entertaining. No grand revelations.

Skilled and witty. I enjoyed it as light entertainment. It’s a sparkling piece of social commentary; and by the same token, a time
capsule. If your manners need true bolstering; don’t start with this book, get something rudimentary. I didn’t learn anything new, but I love a good turn of the phrase and the validation that my natural impulses and instincts align what the author’s.

Too Much Rehash

If you haven't read anything by Craig Beck - BUY THIS BOOK -- OR ANY BOOK HE'S WRITTEN -- because, boiled down, they're all much the same. He's an insightful man, a gifted author, and an enchanting narrator. I absolutely believe that he has given me tools and knowledge to change my life for the better. The trouble is that he re-purposes too much of his A-game material into book after book after book -- shamelessly so. Those of us who buy multiple Craig Beck books are therefore entreated to the same verbatim stories used to illustrate the same points. (He's like the charming and beloved family member who comes for Christmas and tells the same jokes and stories every year.) I don't know if he does this to sell more books, to give himself the illusion of activity as a prolific writer, or to ensure his core philosophies reach readers. What I do know is that rehash dilutes the product. Craig Beck, I LOVE your insights, your writing style, and your presentation -- but I don't love buying a "new book" and getting an "old book" squeezed into a new context as if with a shoehorn. Having gone down that road several times now, this is the last Craig Beck book I'll buy.

Odd writing style.

The author used so many distracting words that I wondered if English were his first language. The narration was robotic. Hard to listen to.

Good concept, but content felt somewhat padded

I feel this was yet another book that has merit, but that the authors were more aware of page count than substance. I think this book could have been 20-25% shorter with no loss in impact or quality. Today's audience is smart enough to know when we're being force fed intellectual padding.

This book is logical, it offers strong research, clear thoughts and actionable advice. It has influenced me to examine and change the way I work. Very glad I invested the time and money in it.
