Historia
Halia Watkins has her hands full cooking, hosting, and keeping her boisterous young cousin, Wavonne, from getting too sassy with customers. Having fast-talking entrepreneur Marcus Rand turn up in her kitchen is annoying enough when he's alive - but finding his dead body face-down on her ceramic tile after hours is much worse. Marcus had his enemies, and the cast iron frying pan beside his corpse suggests that at last, his shady business deals went too far. Halia is desperate to keep Sweet Tea's name out of the sordid spotlight but her efforts only make Wavonne a prime suspect.

The main character is critical and hard to listen to without feeling a bit drained. All other characters leaned on stereotypical antidotes. I couldn’t get past all this to finish the story.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Historia
Ever since she was a child, every aspect of Julia Haart’s life—what she wore, what she ate, what she thought—was controlled by the dictates of ultra-Orthodox Judaism. At 19, after a lifetime spent caring for her seven younger siblings, she was married off to a man she barely knew. For the next 23 years, her marriage would rule her life. Eventually, when Haart’s younger daughter, Miriam, started to innocently question why she wasn’t allowed to sing in public, run in shorts, or ride a bike without being covered from neck to knee, Haart reached a breaking point.

Dull, respectfully

I was excited to listen to this book after watching her show on Netflix, like most. I wish the publishers would’ve had someone else narrate. Julia sing song narration is a bit much. It was like listening to a fairy tail and nails on the chalk board simultaneously.
The story itself is one big pat on the back to her.
Everything is so magical even the parts of the story/ her life she claims are miserable. Making it a little confusing for me the listener.
If you’re interested in her story because of the Netflix show, let your curiosity stop you there.

Historia
With his now-legendary store on 125th Street in Harlem, Dapper Dan pioneered high-end streetwear in the 1980s, remixing classic luxury-brand logos into his own innovative, glamorous designs. But before he reinvented haute couture, he was a hungry boy with holes in his shoes, a teen who daringly gambled drug dealers out of their money, and a young man in a prison cell who found nourishment in books. In this remarkable memoir, he tells his full story for the first time.

If you love hip hop! This book here! Is a must!
Revisado: 07-29-20
Mr. Day opened up his life to us so vividly that I felt everything he went through while reading/listening to his memoir. Hip hop culture reach is just undeniably. I’m from a little city in TN. Growing up in the 80s and I remember seeing all his fly shit on mtv wanting it all. Loved everything about this book.
