Historia
Her life by the sea in ruins, Pen has lost everything in the Earth Shaker that all but destroyed the city of Los Angeles. She sets out into the wasteland to search for her family, her journey guided by a tattered copy of Homer’s Odyssey. Soon she begins to realize her own abilities and strength as she faces false promises of safety, the cloned giants who feast on humans, and a madman who wishes her dead. On her voyage, Pen learns to tell stories that reflect her strange visions, while she and her fellow survivors navigate the dangers that lie in wait. In her signature style, Francesca Lia Block has created a world that is beautiful in its destruction and as frightening as it is lovely.

Great Book for the Fantasy Addict
Revisado: 12-05-13
I really love Francesca Lia Block, I read several of her books years ago and she still has that great way of bringing the fantastical to life. This is not a book for people that are looking for a Dystopian Novel or Contemporary Fantasy. Block's books are one of a kind, filled with mythology, high fantasy and other worldly in the midst of a ruined contemporary world.
I personally really liked the book but my reading tastes have changed into liking longer novels instead of fast-paced shorter stories. But for anyone that needs a dose of other worldly fantasy this is an incredible book.

Beautiful Moments meets Romance Novel
Revisado: 06-12-13
I really enjoyed The Edge of Never for it's small and subtle moments. I would rate the book over all as a 3, it is a good love story with interesting characters and prospectives. But what kept me from loving the book was that as interesting as the characters were the story of those characters could have been so much better. And the potential of the book is what and the fact that it didn't quite hit that mark is the only reason it is not rated higher.
However there are these beautiful moments of human incite in the book that really were powerful. Moments between Cameron and Andrew that were really perfect and gave the depth of writer's style that J.A. Redmerski has. I hope that she writes more because I would love to see what more she could do with that really soulful style of writing.

Historia
The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University's Walking One-Night Stand. Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid.

Great Characters, not as good of a story
Revisado: 03-23-13
I want to say that I didn't dislike the book. Jamie McGuire creates a few very dramatic and visceral characters that you fall in love with their tormented love affair very quickly. However there are many scenes in this book that have a lot of build up to them and nothing really happens. McGuire had a ton of great ideas but very followed through with the threat and that was where the book lost it's 5 star rating for me.
Emma Galvin is a great Narrator, this is the second book I have listened to her. She really brings a lot to the characters and I am glad I decided to listen to the book over buying the physical copy.
If you are looking for a good book to escape into this is a great pick!

Great for Mystery and Complex Plot
Revisado: 03-03-13
Would you listen to The Eight again? Why?
I would listen to The Eight again, probably to pick up on things that I did not get the first time. The plot is very complex and cross generational, so it does care concentration to really follow along. I would recommend this to someone who want to dig deep into a book. Not for someone that is just looking for entertainment.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Mireille is my favorite for her rich descriptions and bold actions. She seems some what fearless and so smart at the same time.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, you need to take it is doses over time.
