I have hated the main relationship since book 1. Still do. But my goodness does Rebecca know how to write plot, action, humor and then make a masterpiece of what the heck did I just read.
If you take out the main love story, the book is perfect ❤️❤️❤️

I don’t think I’ll NOT love one of this woman’s stories….

Beautifully written. Could tell ALOT went into this story, so much strife in a world filled with lies and hate. M.L. Wangs books always seem to be bittersweet, goodness comes from sacrifice. It’s probably one of the biggest reasons I love her written works, she’s not afraid of making you cry, or think harder about what you might do in a similar situation. Not all stories have a happy ending, but perhaps a new beginning.

It’s been 13 years since I read this book, I was 16 and let me tell you I’d loved it so much that I checked it out at the school library five times 😂 if you want a good sci-fi fantasy, with a touch of romance, and a story that will make you happy/sad… you’ll love this. Honestly, it’s Steph’s best written work in my opinion.

The only con I had with this story was the slow beginning.
But my pros out weigh that by a mile. ☺️ I enjoyed the twists the author brought to her retelling of Mulan. I loved how as time goes, I became attached to the fmc and wanted her to win. I loved that the romance didn’t overwhelm the story as a whole.
I need book 2 now. 🥲
I physically read, and listened to this book. Well written, and Natilie could do no wrong with her voicing any fmc. ❤️☺️
