Historia
A hundred and fifty years ago, naval warfare entered a new phase with the introduction of ironclad vessels. On March 9, 1862, the USS Monitor, prototype of this new class of warships, fought the Confederate ironclad CSS Virginia at Hampton Roads, Virginia, after the Virginia had ravaged the Union fleet blockading the James River, sinking larger, seemingly more powerful wooden warships in a potent demonstration of the power of an armored, heavily-gunned, steam-powered warship.

Not the best Monitor book on Audible
Revisado: 12-16-21
The free book Iron Dawn is a much better book on the Monitor. I realize this book is a record of much of Broadwater’s career but there’s too much about obscure Government committees .

Too political these days
Revisado: 03-19-19
WSJ has hardly any business stories these days. 3-4 of the 5 stories read here are from the politics section.

Historia
Imagine the impact on world history if Robert E. Lee had listened to General Longstreet at Gettysburg and withdrawn to higher ground instead of sending Pickett uphill against the entrenched Union line. Or if Napolon, at Waterloo, had avoided mistakes he'd never made before. The advice that would have changed the outcome of these crucial battles is found in a book on strategy written centuries before Christ was born.

Simply Excellent
Revisado: 08-30-11
I've been an Audible member for many years, but this is the first review I've taken the time to write. This book explores how the principles of Sun Tzu were or were not followed in ten battles or campaigns in the last 200 years. It is fairly easy to follow, even without the maps in front of you which is not true for many narrated military histories
The narration is excellent, I highly recommend the narrator.

Historia
Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

One Second After
Revisado: 04-25-09
This is an excellent book, especially as an audio book. Realistic portrayal of what might happen in the United Stats if we were attacked by EMP weapons. I couldn't wait to get to the gym and listen to this book during my work-out. One other reviewer complained about the audio quality. I did not have that problem.

Historia
This New York Times best seller is a thrilling account of one of the most pivotal moments in United States history. Six months after the Declaration of Independence, America was nearly defeated. Then on Christmas night, George Washington led his men across the Delaware River to destroy the Hessians at Trenton. A week later Americans held off a counterattack, and in a brilliant tactical move, Washington crept behind the British army to win another victory. The momentum had reversed.

Perfect for Revolutionary War Students
Revisado: 01-08-05
The conventional view of Washington's crossing of the Delaware is that it was a symbolic victory but did not affect the larger course of the war. David Fisher does an excellent job of debunking that myth. He describes how the battles of Trenton, Princeton and the winter forage war severely depleted British strength and started to turn British public opinion against the war. The author managed to locate many previous unpublished diaries and personal journals to use as first-hand sources. Finally the description of the Hessian army, officers and enlisted men is not typically known to Americans and is a fascinating part of the book. I strongly recommend the unabridged version.
