Historia
Rain slicked streets, riots, murder, chaos. It’s July 1992 and the Troubles in Northern Ireland are still grinding on after twenty-five apocalyptic years. Detective Inspector Sean Duffy got his family safely over the water to Scotland, to “Shortbread Land”. Duffy’s a part-timer now, only returning to Belfast six days a month to get his pension. It’s an easy gig, if he can keep his head down.

Least favorite of the series
Revisado: 04-04-25
Far fetched and the ending isn’t satisfying. Duffy loses some appeal to me with this book. Inconsistencies and confusing details distract from the story (which isn’t that interesting compared to the others in the series). I would recommend that others looking to read this series start with book 3 and stop with the book before this one (7?). Narrator does a great job, however

I really enjoyed the book until the ending. I think the writer could have come up with something better to tie it all together.

The main character is one of those overly macho Die Hard guys. This book didn’t do it for me but maybe it’s because I read it after “The Swimmer” which is a hard act to follow

Stupid ending
Revisado: 11-24-24
Book was pretty good although confusing at times with all the characters. The ending ruined it for me, however. Not sure what the author was thinking - maybe planning a second book? The problem is I’m not interested in the unlikeable characters who would be in it
