Historia
Julian Fellowes's Belgravia is the story of a secret. A secret that unravels behind the porticoed doors of London's grandest postcode. Set in the 1840s, when the upper echelons of society began to rub shoulders with the emerging industrial nouveau riche, Belgravia is peopled by a rich cast of characters. But the story begins on the eve of the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. At the Duchess of Richmond's new legendary ball, one family's life will change forever.

Slow and a surprising, disheartening twist
Revisado: 10-04-17
Not wanting to divulge anything that might ruin the book for anyone that hasn't read it but...I couldn't believe how it all ended up, kind of like what was the point of that whole story and development of certain characters? I'm hopeful that the rest of the series will begin to make more sense and that this one was just supposed to set up the rest of the series. It was pretty detailed and slow in much of the story and then the "good stuff" was all for naught by the end. I've been trying to find a true series with returning characters so we'll see if this one ends up being it.

Not believable /historically accurate
Revisado: 08-08-17
I choose historical fictions cause I like some truth to the stories. It was hard to enjoy it when so many inaccuracies with how the south would have been so soon after the Civil War. Just not realistic, even those against slavery would still have treated them as servants not equals. People may not like it but if you're going to write a book post Civil War it should be accurate.

First disappointment
Revisado: 06-27-17
I'm glad this wasn't my first experience with audio books or I'd have never listened to another. I have listened to all of Lynn Austin's fiction books but this one's narrators were so distracting it was hard to enjoy the story. I think it would have been a good book if I'd have read it myself but it was like a high school play where the cast hadn't read their lines beforehand. And you couldn't keep track of who was saying what because the voices wouldn't change or would change but incorrectly for the character. Such a shame to ruin what could have been a good story. I definitely wouldn't recommend the audio version to anyone. Read the book yourself don't listen to this one! Her others have been much more enjoyable.
