Don't like this book
Revisado: 06-06-24
I was expecting a real historian to explain or give some interesting stories on the subject. Instead this book started with some interesting dots, but then used all kinds of conspiracies to connect them - such as NASA is hiding data, or "creative" people are controlling our history and future. My head still hurts after listening to this book.
The narrator performed well, but the content of the book is not my type. If you want to read a good history book with facts or stories well explained, don't pick this book. Save your credit for a better one. I don't write reviews often, but I want to give a warning to others.

Historia
Forget Hollywood's portrayal of violence and mayhem in ancient warfare and find out what the ancient battles were really like. What were the weapons, tactics, armor, training, and logistics? What were the crucial factors that could turn the tide of battle, giving one side victory and the other defeat? In 24 exciting lectures, Professor Fagan introduces you to the many fateful battles that became crucibles of history: the fearsome clash between the Athenians and the invading Persian army at the Marathon, Alexander the Great's crushing hammer-and-anvil tactics against the Persians at Gaugemela, and the Roman mastery of siege warfare at the Jewish fortress of Masada.

Love overall, some small mistakes
Revisado: 01-08-23
I love how this course covers a wide range of East Asian history. I also noticed some small mistakes:
1. Big flood in 1942 in China was on the Yellow River, not Yangzi River.
2. Cao Cao in Three Kingdoms era pronounced "Tsao Tsao", not "Kao Kao"
3. LI QingZhao the famous poet was from Song Dynasty not Tang Dynasty.

Historia
In Music as a Mirror of History, Great Courses favorite Professor Greenberg of San Francisco Performances returns with a fascinating and provocative premise: Despite the abstractness and the universality of music - and our habit of listening to it divorced from any historical context - music is a mirror of the historical setting in which it was created. Music carries a rich spectrum of social, cultural, historical, and philosophical information, all grounded in the life and experience of the composer.

Historia
The Return of the King is the towering climax to J. R. R. Tolkien’s trilogy that tells the saga of the hobbits of Middle-earth and the great War of the Rings. In this concluding volume, Frodo and Sam make a terrible journey to the heart of the Land of the Shadow in a final reckoning with the power of Sauron. In addition to narrating the prose passages, Rob Inglis sings the trilogy’s songs and poems a capella, using melodies composed by Inglis and Claudia Howard, the Recorded Books studio director.

Historia
Renowned psychiatrist and educator Armand Nicholi here presents a fascinating comparison of the beliefs of Sigmund Freud and C. S. Lewis. In the 20th century, no spokesman was more prominent for nonbelief than Sigmund Freud, and no one argued for belief more successfully than C. S. Lewis. From pain and suffering to love and sex, from God to morality, Lewis and Freud carefully argued opposing positions and even considered the chief objections to their positions.
