Historia
Ten years after the events of Morning Star, Darrow and the Rising are battling the remaining Gold loyalist forces and are closer than ever to abolishing the color-coded caste system of Society for good. But new foes will emerge from the shadows to threaten the imperfect victory Darrow and his friends have earned. Pierce Brown expands the size and scope of his impressive Red Rising universe with new characters, enemies, and conflicts among the stars.

Iron Gold Review
Revisado: 08-23-24
I’ll be honest, I really didn’t want to listen to Iron Gold. I feel that Morning Star is the perfect conclusion to the Red Rising Series. I still feel that way after reading this, but I did come to enjoy it towards the end.
As someone else said before in a previous review, this is a slow burn…I mean painfully slow, especially the first 8-10 hours. The new characters take a long time to build up and I hated listening to their stories at times. But it paid off in the end. After the 10 hour mark, I was fully committed and intrigued by their separate stories. It’s worth the listen in the long run.
From a narrator perspective, I feel that the casting was spot on. John Curless and Tim Gerard Reynolds are arguably the best modern narrators in the business. They’re certainly my two favorites. They bring their respective characters to life like no one else can do! The other two also do a good job. The monotone, pretentiousness of Julian lends perfectly with Lysander’s personality and the fiery acting of Aedin fits well with Lyria.
All in all, it’s a good book and makes me want to finished out the series. But, I can’t stop feeling that this book, and I’d assume the next two are completely unnecessary. Again, Morning Star was the perfect ending. Carrying on the story was, to me, like extending a movie series too far where everything seems recycled.

Historia
David, new shepherd and youngest of eight, doesn’t want to fight. He wants to disappear, to be alone with his sheep. His brothers mock him, his father ignores him, and even the sheep he protects flee him. Yet, he was born for more. Yahweh has called him beyond the fields of little Bethlehem. He has called him to greatness. Saul is king of Israel. Chosen by Yahweh and anointed by Samuel the prophet, he leads the fledgling nation as he defends its borders with shaky hands. Chosen and anointed he may be, but he is also a failure.

Narrator isn’t the best…
Revisado: 07-01-24
Story was great, although the author definitely took some liberties. Still great to listen to and helps to personalize David from the Bible. I found myself re-reading David’s story in the Bible which is great to get back into the Good Book! Only issue I have is with the narration. All the other reviews are true…I feel that a more theatric narrator would have made this much more enjoyable.
