Historia
Strangers to Ourselves is a compassionate, courageous and riveting look at the ways we talk about and understand ourselves in periods of crisis and distress. Drawing on unpublished journals and letters, along with deep reporting, it follows people who feel as if they have reached the limits of psychiatric explanations for who they are. Their diagnosis, while giving their experiences a name, also shapes their sense of what their future may look like—and their identities, too.

Juliet Stevenson can make any story come alive!

Elizabeth Gaskell's first novel. Suspenseful if a bit sentimental. But with Juliet Stevenson as narrator, it becomes compelling. A great listen.

Unforgettable tale beautifully read
Revisado: 08-18-19
I could barely bring myself to stop listening and when I did manage, couldn't stop thinking about this tragic tale. I sensed where the story was heading, but even so, kept hoping that I was mistaken. I haven't been so emotionally invested in the fate of a pair of fictional lovers since reading Atonement. This book was so good, that, at times, I followed along on a downloaded version on my Kindle so that I wouldn't miss anything. Highly recommended.
