Historia
In 1918, a ransom of enormous size was paid to free the Romanovs from the Bolsheviks, but, as history knows, the Romanovs died anyway. And the ransom? During World War II, the Nazis stole it from the Russians, and after that - it vanished. Until now. When a modern-day kidnapping captures the attention of husband-and-wife team Sam and Remi Fargo, the couple soon learn that these long-lost riches may be back in play, held in trust by the descendants of a Nazi guerrilla faction called the Werewolves.

The reason for the ransom
Revisado: 06-19-24
I like the Fargo adventure series, but I get tired of the altar good guys vs the ultra bad guys. I also get tired of every reference to the Nazis has to be negative. Hitler was able to come to power because we (The US) tipped the balance of the war in 1917 - 1918 and allowed England and France to set the extreme terms of reparations on the back of the German people. It seems we forget that the reason we went to war in 1941 was that the Japs bombed us at Pearl Harbor. So it would be nice to see the Japs as bad guys for a while and give the Nazis a rest. Lastly, the Fargos need to have kids. The purpose of marriage is kids, period. I feel like the book indicates that the option of children is in the same level as deciding if they should build a pool in the back yard. The Fargos are just a little bit too perfect… a little bit too much in love…. I’ve been married for 30 years and we have two kids. However, that is not 30 years of bliss! The Fargos need some not so perfect things to happen to them that make them less perfect and a bit more normal. Perhaps they could be a little more less perfect. Maybe they could be a little greedy and secretly keep a treasure here or there. Perhaps one of the other good guys in the stories could get shot and killed instead of all the good guys winning and all the bad guys going to jail or getting killed. The movie “unforgiven” comes to mind. In that there are no good guys or bad guys. Everyone is bad and good. Which is what real life is. On the same note let the bad guys occasionally do good things. Let them have golden relationships with their wives. Then you might feel something when they get caught or killed.

Historia
Veteran script consultant Jill Chamberlain discovered in her work that an astounding 99 percent of first-time screenwriters don't know how to tell a story. What the 99 percent do instead is present a situation. In order to explain the difference, Chamberlain created the nutshell technique, a method whereby writers identify eight dynamic, interconnected elements that are required to successfully tell a story. Now, for the first time, Chamberlain presents her unique method in audiobook form with The Nutshell Technique: Crack the Secret of Successful Screenwriting.

great formula for story telling
Revisado: 05-15-24
I listened to this book several times. Though it is intended for screenwriting for films, I am writing a historical fiction novel and honestly can not see why the screenwriting formula of the nutshell can not easily apply to a novel as well. I have listened to the "save the cat" book for novels and it is very good and helpful, however this book seems to simplify the formula in a way that is allot more clear to me. The author also uses allot of older films which is great for me because I grew up on older films. I am the last babyboomer born, so I grew up and adopted the culture of the movies from the 1930's through the 1950's. I honestly no longer even go to the movies. Hollywood puts out nothing but WOKE garbage now and I refuse to pick a seat off a computer screen at the theater. I want to go in and survey who I'm sitting next to when I go to a movie. So I am very happy that the Nutshell is talking about films that I am very familiar with. Also I have gone on You Tube and watched some of the interviews with the author, which is what brought the book to my attention to begin with, and she is very attractive and personable in a way that explains her formula in a clear cut manner. That makes her view point and advice, for me at least, allot more engaging and relatable to my own experiances. I strongly recommend this book if you are writing a screenplay, novel or simply want to understand the structure of a good story. in case you are like me and look for opinions of like mind, I am a Texan who is very right minded and conservative. This is an outstanding book and the narration, though I prefer men as readers, was done very good by the young lady who read it.

Historia
This is the first book-length survey of the Union's "hard war" against the people of the Confederacy. It chronicles the St. Louis massacre - the events leading to, and suffering caused by, the federal decree that forced 20,000 Missouri civilians into exile. Thoroughly researched from sources including letters, diaries, and newspaper accounts of the time, it also pays attention to the suffering of African-American victims of Federal brutality. The title serves to set the record straight, to show that the war on civilians was not justified or necessary to save the union.

The Truth of the villainy of the US Government
Revisado: 03-02-24
This is the often glossed over truth of the evil so many praise as the Union Army. The US Government even today does not want the truth to be widely known. The glossed over version given to the public by documentarians like Ken Burns leave out the fact that murderers like Sherman and Sheridan were working for the chief murderer of them all Abraham Lincoln. I can only say that Lincoln got what he deserved, just too bad Booth did kill him in 1860. I was a Marine and knowing now about the pathetic lying government I served and that exists today, I greatly regret ever wearing the Marine Blue Uniform. My family had a plantation in Tennessee and it’s been passed down that when the Yankees came to our area we hid all our livestock and food in a huge cave. The idiot Yankees never found it. Read this book if you want the truth about how horrible and tyrannical the US Government was… and really still is!

Historia
Nothing in American history has ever equaled the death and destruction of the intense and bloody warfare of 1861-1865 between Americans. For later generations, such a horror must have the comfort of a moral justification. The war must have been a noble and necessary crusade carried out against evil people who refused to give up their slaves. But is this true? Did those men in blue really sacrifice their lives for the freedom and equality of Black Americans? Did those men in gray give their lives so that some could continue to hold Black Americans in slavery?

Outstanding for its truth!
Revisado: 02-21-24
My only complaint was that it was too short. The content of it is absolutely truthful, and is very interesting. it sheds light on all of the lies that are forced down our throats by the media and our idiot school systems My family owned a plantation during the Civil War in Tennessee, and we own slaves I am proud of my ancestors, and if this was 1861, I would be wearing a gray uniform with the intention of killing as many Yankees as I could But whether you are southern or Yankee, the truth is that the Civil War, like any other war, was fought for money, greed and control I strongly recommend this work to anyone, southern or Yankee, who is interested in the truth. The only reason I didn’t give the performance five stars is because it was a tiny bit mechanical. But I think the fellow who read it did a fine job, regardless.

Little does he care for the war that rages between men and monsters beyond the city walls, despite portents of its encroaching threat. Mortal life in the Realm of Beasts is short enough, and to leave the shelter of civilisation is to surrender to certain death. But death is coming to Excelsis. The forces of Destruction are on the move, and the realm quakes with each thunderous step.

Real close to 5 Stars… but
Revisado: 09-05-23
I would give this book 5 stars but for the fact that I was looking for a basic beginner’s book to the Age of Sigmar. I need a genesis to the Sigmar world…. A “once upon a time” story so I can begin to understand the giant universe. This story was real good and held my attention, but it still kept throwing out references and names as if I was “in the know”…. It’s like watching the HBO “Billions” and the actors keep throwing out references to Music and Bands and I have NO IDEA what the hell they are talking about, so you just are left irritated that your time is being wasted on meaningless trivia! But…. This story is still really good even if you are new to Sigmar and are totally lost (like me). I was born in 1964 and am officially the last baby boomer so that might help some of you who are my age understand my perspective. I was told by the employees at Citidel WarHammer that is was a good starter book…. Ok, well… not really, but then again I don’t know what would be at this point. If however you have a degree or masters degree in Age of Sigmar, then I’m sure this is a perfect 5 star. The narrator makes it worth the listen. That fellow did a fine job. I do recommend this book if you are an entered apprentice in Sigmar, or at least until I find a true beginners novel. But after doing a bit of research, I’m thinking that animal doesn’t exist yet.

Revisado: 05-16-23
This was a really good story… not a whole lot of action but the reader makes it all worth while. Something about the way a proper Englishman speaks is really captivating and elegant. The dame in the story is just your average nutty woman who really can’t be trusted.

Historia
Between 1920 and 1950, America saw an unprecedented expansion of wealth and power underwritten by technological innovation, cultural confidence, and victory in war. American elites won World War II, rebuilt the world order with America at its head, inaugurated the jet age, and put a man on the moon. The boom led to a larger, richer middle class that confirmed America’s best ideals. By the early 1970s, that ended. American elites have captured a disproportionate share of the social and economic rewards over the last fifty years.

Great book on these Untied States
Revisado: 03-27-23
I saw the interview with the author on Tucker Carlson and really enjoyed his description of what is going on in our country. I bought the audio book and am on my second listen. It is a really good book! I agree with all that he says. about 90% of the book explains how we got to where we are and gives you a snapshot of some numbers which illustrate our decline. Then in the end he gives a very fine explanation of how we can crawl out of our poor state of affairs. Though I agree with his answers to the problems, none of this can be accomplished so long as the people keep following the corporations and oligarchs who control our politicians like a set of puppets. We each must makes personal choices our lives Rostand up for what is moral and right to take this country back to where we once were before the 1950's. I strongly suggest this book. a bit about me and my mind set... I am 58 years old, white male, husband for 29 years father of two, I served in the Marines, I am a Mason, an Admiral in the Texas Navy, anti Abraham Lincoln, supporter of the Confederacy, a citizen of Texas, supporter of Coolidge, Truman, Reagan and Trump. an enemy of BLM, an enemy of the Marxist left and a supporter of the first ten amendments to the Constitution!

Third time is a charm and he did a great job at presentation and a very thorough story. But two things… one I hope he will do a 4th book on the Iliad and perhaps a 5th on Virgil’s work, the Aeneid. Two: I could do without the mention that the author is a sodomite…

Con man Joe Berlin was used to scoring easy cash off of gullible women. But that was before he met Mona Brassard - and found himself holding a stolen stash of raw heroin. Now that Joe has fallen hard for Mona, he's got to pull off the most dangerous con of his career: one that will leave him either a killer - or a corpse. I real escape to how it used to be
Revisado: 07-06-22
Alan Sclar is a great reader. And Laurence Block writes like a master chef cooking at a 5 star hotel. What I like best about the older books is they take me back to when I was a kid. To a time before political correctness poisoned these United States. Back when Men were Men, Women were sex objects and the rest of the world knew, one false move and we would nuke’em. None of this “corporate Woke” BS existed. A time when we had stewardesses, secretaries and it was normal to smoke everywhere! I hate the world we live in now and all the liberal garbage along with it! But this book and others by Block are an escape…. Back to when life was so much better!!!

Most Americans consider Abraham Lincoln to be the greatest president in history. His legend as the Great Emancipator has grown to mythic proportions as hundreds of books, a national holiday, and a monument in Washington, D.C., extol his heroism and martyrdom. But what if most everything you knew about Lincoln were false? What if, instead of an American hero who sought to free the slaves, Lincoln were in fact a calculating politician who waged the bloodiest war in American history in order to build an empire that rivaled Great Britain's?

Lincoln was a tyrant
Revisado: 01-19-21
I vote Republican and support Donald Trump 100%. However I am a southerner who’s family owned a plantation on the Obey River in TN. We fought for the CSA. I reject calling myself a Republican and reject the communists who call themselves Democrats. This book is as relevant to today’s politics as much as historical fact. It should be required reading in every School. The myth of Lincoln has like many other things been sold to us as a bill of goods. I call it the great American lie! This book is fantastic and thoroughly investigated The reader is very good and listening is a pleasure. So if your a constitutionalist then read this book!!!
