I listen/read to a lot of books and this one covered a subject I have not seen before. And did it in a captivating way. There were times when I could not stop listening. I am hoping that I never have to use the information that I learned, but I will be prepared if I do :)

I was determined to finish this book because of the reviews I read about how transforming the information was (it was pretty good), but I had to listen to it just a little bit at a time because the narration was choppy.

Put the concepts to use with my kids right away

I taught my middle school son the concepts as he studied for his social studies test - he made a 100. I am anticipating his grades will continue to improve as he now knows how to more actively listens in class and the importance of reviewing the material before and after class.

I am in no way involved in the bar business (I am a physician) but I found great nuggets of information that I can use in my practice. It was interesting to hear about different restaurants/bars and the changes he made to make them successful. Great narration.

Would you listen to The Charisma Myth again? Why?

Yes. The book had so many pearls I took 7 pages of notes (typed, single space)

What about Lisa Cordileione’s performance did you like?

Her voice was easy to listen to

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. It had a lot of information that I had to think about, as well as some exercises to do so it is better to fully understand one section before moving on the next.

The House of Tomorrow

The House of Tomorrow is about a sheltered boy cared for by his grandmother who is raising him to save the world, through the teachings of Buckminster Fuller. Through a series of events, he is befriended by a punk rock kid. The interactions between these two young boys are hilarious. Sebastian is naive and practical, and has a hard time following the sarcastic remarks made by Jared, who has been through more than the typical teenager.

The audio version is very well done. The narrator captures the innocence of Sebastian and the sarcastic tone of Jared perfectly.

Entertaining

Eat, Pray, Love is about a recently divorced writer who journeys to Italy, India and Indonesia to heal and find herself again. I thought this was an entertaining memoir and enjoyed reading about the places she visited.

I think she did an excellent job narrating the book and I don't think anyone could have done it better. There were many characters in the book and she did the various accents very well.

Will make you laugh and cry

Whether you are a dog lover or not, you will love this book.

The Art of Racing in the Rain is about a philosophical, television-watching dog named Enzo, who dreams of the day he becomes a man. He gives us his wise (and comedic) observations of the world as he helps his owner, a race car driver who faces a series of heart-wrenching experiences.

This is a book you almost have to listen to. There is a part of the book that involves a voice synthesizer that had me laughing out loud. I don't know if the written word would have had the same effect.

You won't want to get out of your car

Karen White's intriguing novel perfectly blends mystery and history. The mystery begins with notes written in the margins of books. The notes take a young widow on a journey to the 1940s as she discovers the secrets of a South Carolina family. Once you start listening you won't want to stop...I found myself sitting in the car, wondering what was going to happen next.

This book is also about book lovers, which always helps me identify with the characters. On Folly Beach encouraged me to do more research about Folly Beach, WWII and life in the 1940s.

Note to authors: Please hire a professional to read your books!! Chris Brogan takes a deep breath between each sentence and it just doesn't flow. Sometimes I will take pages of notes from a book. I only wrote three sentences from this one. The questions at the end of each section started to annoy me.
