This is a vignette of life in an English village during WWII The epistolary style, delivered by different readers for the various characters and their perspectives, is well written and effectively performed.

This book lets the reader inside the mind of someone who is not neurotypical. I deeply appreciate the perspective and insight it provided for me. It’s also an engaging story. The narrator is so believable as Christopher, but also conveys the emotions of the other characters. I will have to go and look at this book in print, as I suspect there are interesting formulas and diagrams, and maybe an appendix. I also want to lean more about the author.

Intersection of two well-known worlds.
The narrator’s voice is insipid. I learned of this book from a reference in a postlude to a later title narrated on Audible by the author and someone else, who is very good. Listen to those and read this one on paper if you’re able.

This was a sweet story, made perfect by the exquisite skills of Meryl Streep. Fun for people who like any or all of: the theatre, lakes, orchards, being in love, and/or families.

A beautiful book, lyrically read. The imagery and descriptions create a vivid picture for dramatizations to live up to.
Without the written word, it was a little hard to keep some of the characters straight at first, but as the book went on, I got to know them.

Historical fiction, bookshops, and the incomparable performance of Saskia Maarleveld. I would listen to her read the phone book! (Mommy, what’s a phone book?) Enjoy!

The tables turn as cis men find themselves pregnant. There is little satisfaction in schadenfreude, however.

Harvey Fierstein one person play is a well-researched biography of Bella Abzug, and the rendition is a tour de force.
I only wish I could have seen it in person!

Kate Quinn brings to life the secret history of the codebreakers of World War II, weaving a suspense novel of the first order. Saskia Maarleveld is an excellent narrator, giving each character a distinct voice. I couldn’t stop listening, and as soon as it ended I wanted to start it again.

Engrossing backstory about the making of a film. Gives great insight into the process. Hearing the author (also an experienced actor) read his own words relieves any anxiety that the Audible book won’t capture something in the written text, although I did have to keep pausing to look up the many names referenced in the text.
Don’t even try to read the Diaries before watching the film Wah-Wah (which is wonderful!).
