In seven days, Maggie’s son, Max, turns three. But she’s not planning a party or buying presents or updating his baby book. She’s dreading it. Because in her world, third birthdays are the days on which the unthinkable happens...she loses her child. For the last 12 years Maggie has been imprisoned in a basement. Abducted aged 15, she gave birth to two sons before Max, and on their third birthdays her captor came and took them from her. She cannot let it happen again. But she has no idea how to stop it. And the clock is ticking....

Really Great 👍🏽
Revisado: 01-24-20
I listened to this entire book (10 hours) in one sitting! Excellent. Veeeeeery similar, however, to “Room” (the movie, which won a bunch of awards and starred Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay). But definitely worth the read/listen regardless! Loved the narrator as well. Definitely worth the credit! Well done all around!

Slow to start, great once it got going. Great narrator!
Revisado: 11-28-18
Overall, I enjoyed this one. It took about half the book before I felt really invested in the characters. But once things were moving, it definitely held my attention. It took a sharp turn at the very end which was unexpected. Narrator was really great!

Revisado: 11-17-18
Absolutely hilarious. I laughed out loud so many times. Finished it in a day since it’s only a 6 hour book. Spade adlibs a bunch and does impressions and voices and goes off on a few tangents or rants - which makes it even funnier!

Andi's book is fun and relatable. Nothing profound necessarily, but definitely held my interest from start to finish. She has a bad potty mouth FYI! Just be prepared in case profanity offends you...F bombs everywhere!

Narrator is laughable...
Revisado: 01-15-18
It's really unfortunate because the story itself was really interesting, but the narration was so bad in parts that I was actually LOL'ing...and this ain't a funny book! Narrator is Irish as are most of the characters. But the few American accents she attempts are just pathetic. The "New York" accent comes with a southern drawl (hilarious) with hints of Irish scattered about. It really pulled me out of the story. Super distracting. Story itself was quite good. Advice for audible users--put the speed up to 1.25. It helps the slow, lagging pace the narrators speaks in.

Great story - Beautifully narrated - Predictable ending
Revisado: 10-11-17
Phenomenal narrator. She had me completely engrossed, even had me in tears a couple of times. As far as the story goes, I was totally in love with it until the very end.....only because I predicted the ending about half way through, and though the author tried to keep it a surprise until the very end, she wasn't able to fool me. Even still, I recommend this book for anyone who likes a good mystery novel. I listened to the whole thing within a 24-hour period. 👍🏽👍🏽

Historia
Cass is having a hard time since the night she saw the car in the woods, on the winding rural road, in the middle of a downpour, with the woman sitting inside - the woman who was killed. She's been trying to put the crime out of her mind; what could she have done, really? It's a dangerous road to be on in the middle of a storm. Her husband would be furious if he knew she'd broken her promise not to take that shortcut home. And she probably would only have been hurt herself if she'd stopped.
