Historia
Lila Nash is on the verge of landing her dream job - working as a prosecutor under the Hennepin County Attorney - and has settled into a happy life with her boyfriend, Joe Talbert. But when a woman is pulled from the Mississippi River, barely alive, things in the office take a personal turn. The police believe the woman’s assailant is local photographer Gavin Spenser, but the case quickly flounders as the evidence wears thin. It seems Gavin saw this investigation coming - and no one can imagine how carefully he has prepared.

Never Guessed Who The Murderer Was
Revisado: 03-06-25
Wow! Great listen! The Stolen Hours builds on his characters from previous books but can be read stand alone. The main character really matures in this Who Done It saga. The bad guy is really evil and you wonder if he will get his comeuppance. It's an intricate well woven story. His writing is superb. Family relations are tested, Mommy issues are exposed, sadistic twisted people and their relationships come to light making you wonder who you can trust. The sordid underbelly of society will stop at nothing to satisfy their corrupt nature. Enjoy! It's a great story!

Now out of college, a cub reporter for the Associated Press in Minneapolis, he stumbles across a story describing the murder of a man named Joseph Talbert in a small town in southern Minnesota. Full of curiosity about whether this man might be his father, Joe is shocked to find that none of the town's residents have much to say about the dead man - other than that his death was long overdue....

Great Mystery Well Developed
Revisado: 02-26-25
Love the way Eskens writes. This is my 5th book of his. The story is unique, the characters well developed with unexpected turns. You can read as a series or as a stand alone. It's mystery, it's detective in nature, good guys, bad guys, unknown guys...just keeps you guessing who did it and why. Lots of backstories and sub plots. Pay attention. Enjoy! I did!

Great Story, Great Characters
Revisado: 01-29-25
I found myself talking to my phone. Saying, Yes, Absolutely, That's Right! I love murder mysteries and while everyone like me tries to guess who did it, this one doesn't reveal enough to be sure. You think you know, but then the character seems to change and you question your choice of the killer. Have fun listening to this one. Eskens

A Truly Great Struggle For Life Story
Revisado: 12-20-24
Extremely well written & performed story of persistence to do the right thing to help a wrongly convicted man of a crime he didn't commit. Compelling characters very well developed. It feels like real life. One of the top 3 Audible books I've listened to over the past several years. You'll love it. It will tug at your heart & emotions. You'll cheer for the truth to be uncovered. Happy listening

Lacking Authenticity
Revisado: 12-11-24
The story just never caught my interest. I listened to about an hour before giving up. There were unnecessary F bombs that just did seemed out of place. There were unnecessary details that bogged the story down.

Another great who dunnit mystery
Revisado: 10-12-24
Love that he maintained characters from his 1st book, The Bitter Past. Small town large county western U. S., Sheriff Beck is one of those stand out characters like Reacher is in the Lee Child books. He always gets his man, you just don't know how. Fast moving, yet detailed well developed characters you grow to love. Some 3 letter Federal agencies and foreign bad guys make the mix intriguing. Learn how an $80,000 prize bull being blown up leads Beck to think there's something more to his childhood friend's ranch. Happy reading!

Historia
Porter Beck is the sheriff in the high desert of Nevada, north of Las Vegas. Born and raised there, he left to join the Army, where he worked in Intelligence, deep in the shadows in far off places. Now he's back home, doing the same lawman's job his father once did, before his father started to develop dementia. All is relatively quiet in this corner of the world, until on old, retired FBI agent is found killed. He was brutally tortured before he was killed and clues at the scene point to a mystery dating back to the early days of the nuclear age.

Unexpected Ending
Revisado: 08-31-24
The reading was quite good. I enjoyed the performance. Lots of characters to keep up with. You have to pay close attention. My listening was broken up and it took me weeks to get thru it, but it still kept my attention. While I enjoyed the story I was hoping for a different ending. There was a spot about midway thru that I did not appreciate the inferences made by Mr Follett. I don't even remember the specifics just the disappointment in the liberal point of view. I don't want to give away the ending. I was just hoping for it to project more faith in the global human race. Yes, while it is a fictional story, still I was hoping the main conflict would be handled more intelligently by the characters.

Powerful Negotiation Techniques for Everyday Life
Revisado: 05-08-19
Loved it, very easy to listen to. Great stories of how Chris used these methods to become the go to International Terrorist Negotiator for the FBI. I found myself smiling while listening and doing my shopping. Got some looks from bystanders. I already used one of the techniques to hold my cable provider to an earlier negotiated deal. This really works. I highly recommend this to everyone I talk to now. It's useful for home. work, business situations.
