Historia
The decision to start a new life is never an easy one, but for Joe the transition was far from figurative. Becoming a permanent addition to a game world, it doesn't take long to learn that people with his abilities are actively hunted. In fact, if the wrong people gained knowledge of what he was capable of, assassins would appear in droves.

RPG - very well done.
Revisado: 07-07-23
No Spoilers here but there is reference to style/type of main character development.
Love RPGs, character development, class/character building, specializations, humor, action, story telling, and a bit of snarky god-attitude. Here ya go. Oh, and the darn AI systems, lol.
Excellent series so far (about to start book 7). Main character is likeable, intelligent, flawed, not ever OP (so far) but a developing scrapper in terms of personality. I won’t say what class (ye there is a class system quite fluid (dual classes available) and specializable.
I have listened to 100s (maybe thousands at this point) audiobooks. I love sci-fi, fantasy and in the past 4 years litRPGs as well. From an entertainment perspective this is reminiscent of Redeemer, He who fights with monsters, The Land, and a few others excellent character builder litrpgs focused on story, towns, teams (guilds or clans) etc.
The main focus is a solo player/person. He builds relationships and you learn about those others through him with an occasional sneak peak behind those other curtains.
This is entertainment, and it does itself justice. No complaints so far, but tons of enjoyment. Very well done, good depth, good silly fun occasionally, well thought out and fun advancement system, non-OP main but it adds to the development and doesn’t take away from the fun at all.
Overall I give it 9.99 abysses out of 10. There a .01 deduction due to the listener wearing a cursed ring.
Seriously though, it was a great read. If you like RPGs, character dev, intelligent and determined Mains, and coffee addictions then this is for you. Darn it, spoiler alert, coffee addiction is good, or so I tell myself while pondering the meaning of virtual life.
Cheers and enjoy and lengthy series always entertaining.

All Auric Cain ever wanted was a chance. A chance to prove himself. A chance to take control of his life. A chance to be more than a lowly D-Tier, the lowest of the low, in a world broken by the arrival of an alien, enigmatic being known as The System.

Torn
Revisado: 12-14-22
The author has exceptional skill with written language. The Narrater is amazing. The action is pretty good. I’m torn on this because I want to get into the story so badly but there’s just too many holes, too little actual character development, and the ranking/class system seems like an afterthought. I won’t go into detail aside from saying that the ranking system does not benefit higher quality levels, only individual levels within the tiers (D through A). It’ll make sense if you listen.
I don’t regret the purchase, it filled the time while waiting for the next He Who Fights With Monsters to be released.
I enjoyed my time, just didn’t love it. Had no difficulty stopping the audiobook at any time. Never became invested in any character. They seem like characters. Which they are so that’s fine. Possibly not fair to compare this to other works or even this author’s other works which I truly enjoyed.
It’s an honest 3 star experience for me. Happy I listened and at the same time relatively apathetic to the outcome of the series. I will be purchasing additional books if/as they are released.
It wouldn’t be in my top 100 but not in my bottom 100 either.

The top 10 list is populated. The sponsorship program is open. The difficulty is ramping up. The first three floors were nothing compared to what Carl and Donut now face. The Iron Tangle. An impossibly complicated subway system built out of the world's subterranean railway systems, all combined and then tied together into a knot. Up is down.

This series is fantastic. RPG without an overload of stats (but enough to get your fix). Character development is great. Story is extremely engaging. Dungeon system has a linear story, not just your grind a level and move on type game-story. Listened to the first three in the past two weeks and about to start the fourth. More adult than most RPG tales but it’s refreshing. Humorously violent, intelligently written (or at least very well written and thought out if you’re a snob about defining “intelligently written”). No regrets in my listening experience. Enjoy.

Very good LitSIMRPG
Revisado: 04-24-21
I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next in the series. For those purchasing and listening to this while waiting for another Land installment let me shed some light on my experience with zero spoilers.
This series seems much more like a World SIM or City SIM rpg series than The Land. There’s isn’t as much individual development of the Main but that’s not to say it feels less than. I thoroughly enjoyed the focus on civ building and the slightly different perspective on the same mechanics as previously developed in The Land.
One note on the narrator- it was like listening to Princess Bride or A Christmas Story. I found the reader’s voice entertaining, older, and less focused on dynamics. That is not a complaint. He is ultimately talented and reminiscent of some of the older Asimov recording I have and cherish. Not as engaging and youthful but excellent and in some ways better.
The overall storyline and character development are also wonderful. Dr LitRPG does not disappoint. Truly I could not fully guess what would come next but the development still felt very organic.
Enjoy God’s Eye. It’s worthy of your money and time.

It just ruins RPGs
Revisado: 03-17-21
Simple. It’s excellent. Writing, narration, world, all of it. I’ve played RPGs for well over 20 years. I enjoy MMOs but really they never had enough story for me, too much filler, too much social interaction, too much desperate ploy to grab $ from the lonely masses. This is an epic RPG novel. Can’t wait for the next book. Character development is not so much the thing, but character expansion, world building, plot line, story development, those are the keys, and it unlocks.
No spoilers here. I am critical about my stories. This story punches mystics in the face.

Where’s book 2? A different world(s) than his other books, a different pace, but I thoroughly enjoyed this as much as the others.
