Historia
They are the fatemarked. Misunderstood. Worshipped. Hated. Murdered at birth. Their time to step into the light has come. An ancient prophecy foretold their coming, the chosen few who will bring peace to a land embroiled in a century of mistrust and war. When kings start dying, that hope and belief swiftly turns to fear. Roan Loren is one of the fatemarked, but has hidden his mark of power his entire life, fearing the damage it might cause to those around him. A great evil is coming. He can't hide anymore.

Better than expected
Revisado: 03-29-25
Great story over all. It started a little slow, So slow, in fact, I stopped before the end of the 2nd chapter the first time I picked it up, thinking it a DNF… but when I tried it again and made a bit more progress, I was all in. Some great twists and turns along the way, and a very satisfying ending. (Epilogue sealed it!)
My only complaint would be it felt more like a 3 credit journey rather than 4. As it is written as one continuous book, I feel like each could have been a little bit longer, and combined into 3 books.

Decent Story
Revisado: 03-11-25
As the first books were included in the member library, I gave it a try. The story was okay, characters fine, I never quite under the magic system.
The sex scene in the fourth book was an unexpected/uncomfortable surprise (negative), that didn’t add to the story and didn’t really fit the tone of the rest of the series.
Simon Vance, as usual, does a great job telling the story.

Ran out of awesome…
Revisado: 12-28-24
So much I think is awesome about Sanderson, this series and how he weaves together so many stories in his grand tale.
So many positives, all the good stuff that we expect from Sanderson, so I won’t go into detail for fear of spoilers.
But a couple negatives almost made this a DNF, which shocked me.
- casual/crass sex talk, I’m an adult, it didn’t ‘offend’ me, but it was so out of step/proportion to all the other books. It was like a horny teenage boy went back through and edited the dialogue.
- the one deeply emotional moving personal relationship he develops (far beyond any other characters) is a a homosexual one. Again, Sanderson had been adding small ‘world building details’ that talked about a relationship/sex/gender, but no matter what side was being discussed it was simply background. That he chose the relationship he did to invest chapters in, was disappointing and also out of character for the series.
- the ‘therapy’ angle was just so overblown. Like he was making up for every fantasy book ever written that never mentioned ptsd… in this one book.
- so many threads, it’s awesome… but I’m just not sure I can (or want to) keep up with all his side series then connecting to the next big 5…
I think I’m going to need a pretty long break from the Cosmere. By the time I get back to it, I will probably feel too far behind to jump back in.
The narrators were amazing. They managed the many POV shifts very well, I was able to stick with them.

Historia
God doesn't demand hectic church programs and frenetic schedules; he only wants his people to know him more intimately, says top-selling author D. A. Carson. The apostle Paul found that spiritual closeness in his own fellowship with the Father. By following Paul's example, we can do the same. This book calls believers to reject superficiality and revolutionize their lives by embracing a God-guided approach to prayer. Previously published as A Call to Spiritual Reformation, this book has now been updated to connect more effectively with contemporary listeners.

This was a great encouragement in both Paul’s form, circumstance, and motivation in going to prayer. The only downside to the audio version is not being able to underline passages for easy review later!
