Household debt is at an all-time high, and every day people—just like you—are feeling more cynical and hopeless about their financial futures. It’s time to stop believing countless lies from a system designed to take your money—lies like student loans are the golden ticket to a good-paying job, car payments are just part of life, and that you need to have a credit card.

I found the narrative entertaining yet fundamental. There is a lot to be taken away from the experiential learning shared in the book.

Exceptional story and performance .

This intense novel was well crafted. For me, it was culturally relevant, having previously lived in China, albeit as an Irishman, I was completely consumed by this page-turning story. I thoroughly enjoyed the epilog to catch the reader up at the end of this book.

Historia
It is a hot summer in rural Ireland. A child is taken by her father to live with relatives on a farm, not knowing when or if she will be brought home again. In the Kinsellas' house, she finds an affection and warmth she has not known and slowly, in their care, begins to blossom. But there is something unspoken in this new household—where everything is so well tended to—and this summer must soon come to an end.

Historia
In this myth-busting book, Daniel Lieberman, professor of human evolutionary biology at Harvard University and a pioneering researcher on the evolution of human physical activity, tells the story of how we never evolved to exercise - to do voluntary physical activity for the sake of health. Using his own research and experiences throughout the world, Lieberman recounts without jargon how and why humans evolved to walk, run, dig, and do other necessary and rewarding physical activities while avoiding needless exertion.

I found this book worth the time to consider what he had to say. I believe that there's something in it that could convince you to embrace the mindset without finding the author to be downright preachy.

Consistently is meant to be a Way of Life
Revisado: 03-31-23
Dr. Bosworth has done a wonderful job of telling a compelling message in a manner that most of her readers can logically embrace her call to action. Personally, I am grateful for the time she took out of her personal medical practice give not a hand-out but truly a hand up.
There is much to be gained from adopting this way of eating to improve our overall health.

Historia
In Chinese, the word for America, Mei Guo, translates directly to “beautiful country”. Yet when seven-year-old Qian arrives in New York City in 1994 full of curiosity, she is overwhelmed by crushing fear and scarcity. In China, Qian’s parents were professors; in America, her family is “illegal”, and it will require all the determination and small joys they can muster to survive. In Chinatown, Qian’s parents labor in sweatshops. Instead of laughing at her jokes, they fight constantly, taking out the stress of their new life on one another.

Powerful, moving tribute to her struggle.
Revisado: 12-24-21
I found the story to be captivating with enough Mandarin that I could follow along with the narrator, having previously lived in China as an ex-pat.
In the end, while I realize it focuses on the author, I wish she could could have covered the conclusion in greater details as it related to her parents. (I just felt her conclusion was a tad abrupt and left me wanting.)
Secretly, I hope that she's got a subsequent book in her wheelhouse as I am definitely waiting for more from her when appropriate.
Well done.

Historia
We are familiar with maps that outline all 50 states. And we are also familiar with the idea that the United States is an "empire", exercising power around the world. But what about the actual territories - the islands, atolls, and archipelagos - this country has governed and inhabited? In How to Hide an Empire, author Daniel Immerwahr tells the fascinating story of the United States outside the United States. In crackling, fast-paced prose, he reveals forgotten episodes that cast American history in a new light.

I was very impressed with the scholarship that went into the contents of this book. It dealt with many aspects of the expansion of our nation beyond our Logo Map.
The author also did not sugarcoat some of the many tragedies foisted upon our "colonies."

The worst Audible book ever
Revisado: 11-30-19
Unfortunately, this book brings the very worst of content and narration together in a single edition.
First of all, the book itself is practically based on junk science. None of the opinions stated by the owner are currently accepted by true experts.
However, it is the narrator who makes the entire experience unbelievably painful to endure.
He gets lost in his reading, skipping some words, mispronouncing others and sometimes repeating phrases (because perhaps he should be following his index finger whilst reading).
Normally, I would turn a blind eye to such a waste of money but I assert that it is in our collective best interest to protect our community from such an abomination.
Audible should have done a better job this time around.
