Barely started it and realize im no longer interested in a endless string of annoying side characters
Revisado: 07-22-24
After it began with a oh so predictable security Council of warmongering s**theads i couldn't care less about, and then switching to Doreen, where skipping full minutes at a time didn't make me feel I missed anything, I realized this series and its author('s?) has squandered all the love and patience I have had for it. Reading reviews, both the 5 stars and the realistic ones just confirmed for me to say enough is enough.
I've had plenty enough of what made me love it in the first place, and more hours of enjoyment than most book series I've read. At the pace this series is going there probably won't be any resolution to anything or any main character the next 10 books.
I will refund this credit.

This book is almost all about elections and party politics
Revisado: 01-16-24
It's becoming more and more clear the author(s) have no idea what to do with the story and characters. They keep adding new characters in stead of developing who they already have established.
It seems like they started listening to what all the commenters say in stead of writing the story they wanted.

Please stop adding viewpoint characters
Revisado: 11-08-23
I have liked this series, but it's getting harder to care about the story with constant new additions in terms of viewpoint characters while established characters get neglected.
After multiple books where Ryoka was barely mentioned we got snubbed with only small portion in a book that was titled after her.
It also feels like the author has no idea where the story is going or how to tie up the arcs.
Like the genocide of the goblins in the last book. It felt like the author painted themselves into a corner and just decided to remove the problem.

Historia
The second novel in the brilliant new series from the best-selling author of Prince of Thorns. In Mystic Class, Nona Grey begins to learn the secrets of the universe. But so often even the deepest truths just make our choices harder. Before she leaves the Convent of Sweet Mercy, Nona must choose her path and take the red of a Martial Sister, the grey of a Sister of Discretion, the blue of a Mystic Sister or the simple black of a Bride of the Ancestor and a life of prayer and service.

The narrator ruined this for me
Revisado: 07-04-22
The story is good enough that I got the second book, but I just can't finish this.
This is the screen door effect of narration where it gets in the way of the story. And it annoys me to no end.
The narrator is incapable of making children sound like children and not like grown ass adults.
When she read words they come out fast enough, but her reading is so broken up with long brakes in the middle of sentences that even at 1.25 speed it takes her longer to finish the sentence than the average narrator at normal speed.
I hope the author didn't pick the narrator, and if the series gets a redo I will come back.

Good read, but wrong narrator
Revisado: 12-04-21
So. This is a good story, but I don't think the narrator was a good fit. In many other books she would be totally fine, but here she is making ten year old children sound like adults.
But over all I enjoyed it and I will get the next book despite that.

Even the narrator seems bored
Revisado: 08-23-21
I don't remember buying this. I found it some ways down in my library.
This is so boring. Its not helped by the narrator who is really monotone.
The author seems to have forgotten that commas exist.
All sentences are short.

Historia
Minalan gave up a promising career as a professional warmage to live the quiet life of a village spellmonger in the remote mountain valley of Boval. It was a peaceful, beautiful little fief, far from the dangerous feudal petty squabbles of the Five Duchies, on the world of Callidore. There were cows. Lots of cows. And cheese. For six months things went well: He found a quaint little shop, he befriended the local lord, the village folk loved him, he found a sharp young apprentice to help out, and, best yet, he met a comely young widow with the prettiest eyes.

Bad power fantasy
Revisado: 03-01-21
Mostly consists of MC self indulgence and getting into bed with every female he meet, including children.(this is where I stopped reading)
The world is interesting enough, but and the world building, but it mostly consists of long info dumps. I don't need to learn the entire history of magic just so I can know what a green magical stone is.
This is pure garbage, and I feel sorry for the narrator who had to put effort into this.
I did not finish the book, and will get a refund

Good story, annoying music

I had to pull a star for the really intrusive and poor quality music in between the chapters. Great story and performance otherwise
