Brutally honest
Revisado: 01-22-25
It’s so very hard for most of us to get this brutally honest with ourselves about ourselves, let alone share it with the world. Thank you so much Janiva, I and many others have found this to be very helpful in dealing with our past and the feelings thinking about it brings up.

Historia
William Tecumseh Sherman and Geronimo were keen strategists and bold soldiers, ruthless with their enemies. Over the course of the 1870s and 1880s these two war chiefs would confront each other in the final battle for what the American West would be: a sparsely settled, wild home where Indian tribes could thrive, or a densely populated extension of the America to the east of the Mississippi.

Probably the best book written on the subject of the history of conflict over a long period of time. Really well balanced.

Historia
When Germany invaded Poland, bombers devastated Warsaw - and the city's zoo along with it. With most of their animals dead, zookeepers Jan and Antonina Zabinski began smuggling Jews into the empty cages. Another dozen "guests" hid inside the Zabinskis' villa, emerging after dark for dinner, socializing, and, during rare moments of calm, piano concerts.

Better than the movie!
Revisado: 05-13-21
The movie intrigued me, so, when I found out the book was available on audio, I took at vantage , it’s such a good book, and I’m glad that I got to “read” it, and that I hadn’t watched the movie after I read the book, always a disappointment!

The title and description are very misleading.
Revisado: 09-24-20
The title calls this a “collection”, the description states this contains 24 of Oswald Chambers works: this is not true, it only contains 2 works. The works included are “Studies in the Sermon on the Mount” and “ Biblical Psychology”. While I’m grateful to be able to listen to these 2 works I’m disappointed to not have access to the other 22 works as described. I have been unable to find any of Oswald Chambers other works in audio format. As a truck driver I find audio very helpful.

Historia
Narrated by Emmy Award–winning actor Martin Sheen, The Home Front: Life in America During World War II takes listeners into the lives of Americans at home—part of the Greatest Generation—who supported the war effort and sustained the country during wartime. The war brought immediate, life-changing shifts: the rationing of meat, dairy products, and sugar; an explosion of war-related jobs; and, despite mixed signals, a greater role for women working outside the home.

Historia
In this audiobook, World Relief immigration experts Matthew Soerens and Jenny Yang move beyond the rhetoric to offer a Christian response to immigration. They put a human face on the issue and tell stories of immigrants' experiences in and out of the system. With careful historical understanding and thoughtful policy analysis, they debunk myths and misconceptions about immigration and show the limitations of the current immigration system. Ultimately, they point toward immigration reform that is compassionate, sensible, and just.

Even better
Revisado: 08-01-17
I read this in high school literature class 35 years ago. When I saw it here I just had to see if it was as good as my memory recalled, with this narrator it’s even better. Love the preface, had no idea it was published so close to when I first read it and even then it was almost never published. If you’ve never read Watership Down do yourself a favor, read it.

Historia
The grandson of a slave, Dr. Ossian Sweet moved his family to an all-white Detroit neighborhood in 1925. When his neighbors attempted to drive him out, Sweet defended himself, resulting in the death of a white man and a murder trial for Sweet. There followed one of the most important (and shockingly unknown) cases in Civil Rights history. Also caught up in the intense courtroom drama were legal giant Clarence Darrow and the newly formed National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
