Historia
Court Gentry is known as The Gray Man—a legend in the covert realm, moving silently from job to job, accomplishing the impossible, and then fading away. And he always hits his target. But there are forces more lethal than Gentry in the world. And in their eyes, Gentry has just outlived his usefulness. Now, he is going to prove that for him, there's no gray area between killing for a living-and killing to stay alive.

How is This the Premise of the Movie!?
Revisado: 03-10-25
This story grabbed my attention from the beginning and never let go. The entire time I was listening to this story I kept contrasting it with the Netflix movie and it seemed like they are not even the same story! The book is excellent. The Netflix movie… not so much.
Loved this book.

Historia
One of the 20th century's enduring works, One Hundred Years of Solitude is a widely beloved and acclaimed novel known throughout the world and the ultimate achievement in a Nobel Prize-winning career. The novel tells the story of the rise and fall of the mythical town of Macondo through the history of the Buendía family. Rich and brilliant, it is a chronicle of life, death, and the tragicomedy of humankind. In the beautiful, ridiculous, and tawdry story of the Buendía family, one sees all of humanity, just as in the history, myths, growth, and decay of Macondo, one sees all of Latin America.

I couldn’t keep the characters straight nor make sense of the story lines. I am really disappointed.
I will watch the movie on Netflix and see if that improves my opinion.

I like the clever and sometimes off handed thoughts of Walt that we get to read/hear. I like his thoughts about as much as the entire story.
The author does a good job of making me feel like I am Walt Longmire.

Odd Enough to Pass On
Revisado: 11-14-24
There are characters that cross over I to many of the individual stories but there are many different story lines and some seem so random and disconjointed from each other.
I did not particularly care for the sound effects.
Narration was good.
I bought the 2nd book before I read the first. I will not be listing to the 2nd book.

Historia
Germany, 1945. The soldiers who liberated the Gross-Rosen concentration camp said the war was over, but nothing feels over to 18-year-old Zofia Lederman. Her body has barely begun to heal; her mind feels broken. And her life is completely shattered: Three years ago, she and her younger brother, Abek, were the only members of their family to be sent to the right, away from the gas chambers of Auschwitz-Birkenau. Everyone else—her parents, her grandmother, radiant Aunt Maja—they went left.

Excellent Character Development
Revisado: 10-16-24
Loved the various characters. I was doubtful of the author doing his own narration but I think he actually really nailed it.
It took a long time for the various separate story lines to finally weave together but it was interesting.
I liked how it ended too.
I prefer when each story doesn’t end in happily ever after and this didn’t disappoint.

Revisado: 10-10-24
Not the Stephen King of the 80’s-90’s. I’ve heard he uses ghost writers to be able to write/produce as many books as he does. This book just doesn’t feel like the author I grew up reading.

A Sense of Home
Revisado: 09-12-24
I absolutely love the writing of Craig Johnson. The details that he adds in the observations and thoughts of Walt is what hooks me. I often listen to most books at 1.2X speed but I slow down to the normal speed so I can enjoy the details of Walt’s world coupled with the exceptional narration.
George Guidall is the perfect voice for this character and this genre. Once, I listened to a different book narrated by Guidall and after having listened to him as Walt Longmire for the dozen plus books I’ve listened to so far, I kept imagining the character in that book as Walt. It was a bit distracting to be honest but it shows how convincing he is as the narrator for the Longmire series.
This specific book was good even if somewhat predictable at times. I like the character development and the arc of each over the series.
Each book could be a stand alone book and it makes sense by itself. So don’t worry about reading them in a particular order. However, there is a story line that builds upon itself and there are some nuances that you pick up on from previous books in the series.
I have chosen to not listen to them in order and I have listened to the majority of them and it has been fine.
I have more Craig Johnson (Walt Longmire) books in my Audible library of 280+ books than any other author.

Historia
Few figures in American politics have seen more and said less than Mitt Romney. An outspoken dissident in Donald Trump’s GOP, he has made headlines in recent years for standing alone against the forces he believes are poisoning the party he once led. Romney was the first senator in history to vote to remove from office a president of his own party. When that president’s supporters went on to storm the US Capitol, Romney delivered a thundering speech from the Senate floor accusing his fellow Republicans of stoking insurrection.

An Incomplete Story
Revisado: 09-03-24
Overall an interesting read but if you are looking for details of his life as a business man this is not it. I did like reading the inner thoughts of someone of his success.
I greatly admire his integrity and have tried to live my life the same way and often with the same internal dialogue and external friction from colleagues and acquaintances.
When he read his speech when he voted for Trump’s impeachment I vividly remember questioning how this man was not elected and yet Trump was!! Romney is steadfast and reliable.
The Christian voting block couldn’t get behind him because he was rich and I relatable and didn’t represent their values (he’s a Mormon after all - and that alone (in their eyes) was enough to discount this man’s life work and substantial accomplishments) only to the back Trump!? A known cheat and dishonest business man with many wives, affairs and mistresses and who has far greater wealth than Romney and yet Trump better represents the Christian voting block?
I do with that the book went more into his life as a businessman, husband and father. How he balanced all of it (if he did) how much stress was it for his wife? I’d also like to know how Ann’s family reacted to her joining another faith. What their relationship was over the years.
The scope of most biographies tend to gloss over details of relationships and focus on specific areas of the subjects life. So this shouldn’t surprise me.
Overall a good book and Romney is a good man.
