Narration is Poor

The narrator was very stilted in retelling the story- lots of awkward pauses and jolts. Also inappropriate voices such as giving feminine voices to male characters. Harper Collins should give the narrator a cheat sheet on how x character should sound and the narrator should read the chapter before recording to sound a lot less awkward.

At first the book was good, but the later 2/3 of it was lacklustre.

Depressing

A LOT of deaths of important characters to Leopard- and the book was overall very depressing. Less of ‘Leopardstar’s Honor’ and more ‘Leoparstar’s Losses’. Written well, but I did hesitate to keep reading as this book just made me so sad.
As usual, the main narrator for the series sucks, I was hoping it was going to be anyone besides Andrews like the other super edition books but alas. Couldn’t take his voices serious and put me out.

Great Story, Poor Narration

The story was great, definitely dark however considering this is supposed to be for younger people. But I enjoyed it as an adult.
Narrator really put me off the entire story. He gave old cranky voices to cats that weren’t even that old and goofy voices to other cat or odd tilted female voices. I couldn’t completely immerse myself in the story, even in serious scenes, because of the narrator.

I love this book. If you like the White Collar show and a bit of fantasy, this will probably be up your alley. Interesting setting and group of characters.
The several narrators could be confusing. Would’ve been better if they all had one voice type per character. One narrator would make a characters voice nasally, the other narrator would make that characters voice deep, etc.

Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson, the protagonist is also a rebellious slave.

Dana and Rufus, their voices captured them well.
