Historia
If 14-year-old Cassandra Reed makes it through her first day at Miss Castwell’s Institute for the Magical Instruction of Young Ladies without anyone discovering her secret, maybe, just maybe, she’ll let herself believe that she really does belong at Miss Castwell’s. Except Cassandra Reed’s real name is Sarah Smith and up until now, she lived her whole life in the Warren, serving a magical family, the Winters, as all non-magical “Snipes” are bound by magical Guardian law to do. That is, until one day, Sarah accidentally levitates Mrs. Winter’s favorite vase in the parlor....

Done with MaryJanice Davidson's Foolishness
Revisado: 01-27-15
What disappointed you about Derik's Bane?
I wish I could give a zero rating for both of these stories. It was the same ol' ridiculousness that turned me off of her Undead Series. In Derik's Bane the fate of the world is (as usual) in the hands of some beautiful, dense, powerful, but unknowing woman and she needs to be rescued from herself. And it wouldn't be complete without some kind of chaotic nonsense taking place in the meantime. Strong emphasis on nonsense. That writing formula is old and played out. And the novella at the end, Monster Love, was worse! It is basically about a woman/werewolf/whatever who was physically attacked, kidnapped, raped and held hostage by a deranged and obsessive man/vampire/whatever. And then in true Stockholm Syndrome fashion she "fell in love" with him, leaving her family, friends and all she knew behind for him. I couldn't believe it! I'll be returning this book and won't waste another penny or second of my time on any more of her stories. Maybe she's trying to lose readers. If so, then well done! Five stars for that!
Has Derik's Bane turned you off from other books in this genre?
No. I love the genre. But I'm definitely done with MaryJanice Davidson.
What about Nancy Wu’s performance did you like?
I don't have any complaints about her performance. It's not her fault she had to narrate two crappy stories.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
No.

The Best One Yet
Revisado: 06-16-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Skin Game to be better than the print version?
I prefer the audio version because when I try to read the books I always hear James Marsters' voice in my head.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Dresden. It's his story and he manages to kick butt, get his butt kicked and keep a sense of smart aleck humor about it all. And he's one of the good guys.
Which character – as performed by James Marsters – was your favorite?
Bob
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes
Any additional comments?
This is the best of the Dresden series to date.
