Historia
Franklin Roosevelt awoke on September 1, 1939 to the news that Germany invaded Poland, signaling the start of World War II. The president warned for years that Hitler's fascist regime posed an existential threat to democracy, but the American public remained stubbornly isolationist as fascist sympathizing groups, egged on by right wing media stars promoting anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, plotted to overthrow the president. The situation was dire, and Roosevelt found himself facing an unexpected adversary: Charles Lindbergh.

Taking Liberties
Revisado: 04-15-25
Voice artist was excellent but this is the most disingenuous book I've had the misfortune to hear. Starts from a title that doesn't represent the content: to the constant demagoguery of anyone who held a different opinion than FDR. I can't for the life of me understand why a nationally know conservative non-profit director recommended this book other than the attempt toward the end to cast FDR as a moral Saint by cherrying picking the Christian references from radio addresses and speeches.

unique story elements
Revisado: 04-10-25
Was looking for a long listen and I enjoy Space Opera so I gave Baldwin a try. Overall the story is good and the performance is good as well. Had some unique story elements such as the XO being a paralyzed woman whose mind is uploaded into an andriod and Ship AI with a human's memory uploaded (former ship Captain). Did a good job on the villian plots connecting throughout the books and actually had a few redemptions in the end (doesn't happen much in space/military stories). Will certainly listen through this story again in a few months.

Historia
Between the end of the Thirty Years' War and the Battle of Waterloo, Europe underwent an extraordinary transformation that saw five of the modern world's great revolutions - scientific, industrial, American, French, and romantic. In this much-admired addition to the monumental Penguin History of Europe series, Tim Blanning brilliantly investigates the forces that transformed Europe from a medieval society into a vigorous powerhouse of the modern world.

Bizzare volume changes
Revisado: 11-27-24
Ok.. the multiple performer structure to this audiobook is not bad but 2 of the performers mumbled or constantly read 2 paragraphs of dialogue in one breath. Very annoying to have to keep turning the volume up or down. Litterally only book out of 200+ audiobooks I own, and additional 200+ I've listened to, that the volume situation has ever happened.

Whining, preaching, and unbelievable twists
Revisado: 11-27-24
By this time I've invested a huge amount of time in this author's world. The formula used in this series is getting tiresome to say the least. I found myself fast-forwarding scenes and skipping chapters The monologuing, particularly the "Dancer confrontation", is certainly too, too, too sanctimonious given the morals of the characters and had no place in the story.
So to sum up; The formula- Life shattering choices and betrayal, main characters beaten or killed, main characters whine about guilt... and repeat.

Historia
James Crowley met his mortal end in a hail of gunfire. Now, he finds himself in purgatory, serving the White Throne to avoid falling to hell. Not quite undead, though not alive either, the best he can hope for is to work off his servitude and fade away. His not-so-sacred duty as a Hand of God? Use his new abilities to hunt down demonic beings that have infiltrated the mortal realm. This time, the White Throne has sent him to the middle of nowhere: a Western town called Dead Acre with a saloon, a moldy church, and little else worth talking about. There isn’t even a sheriff.

Best, & most unique, story I listened to this year!
Revisado: 09-18-24
Voice performance was excellent. Perfect amount of gravely and twang for the Old West gunman plus a good range of different character accents. I don't generally try the fantasy sub-category of sci-fi but I enjoy the old black & white western shows; especially Eastwood movies, so I decided to give the Black Badge series a try. I am not disappointed. Plenty of action in fight scenes and I admit the converstaions of the characters actually feel realistic (unlike some stories that force dialog). I enjoyed the investiagting a mystery aspect of the story and picked up on cues about one set of monsters the Hand of God, anti-hero, stumbles upon but the author completely pulled a fast one and I'll not spoil it for others. Bravo on the ending by the way. Will download the next book in the series tomorrow.

Less romance opera, more story please.
Revisado: 06-25-24
The woman in this series are so one dimensional, always needing paternal protection, and enough with the space lesbian romance, OK?!? The author's gimmic of describing the characters' skin color just about everytime they enter the scene is boring filler as well.

Voice performance ruined the story.
Revisado: 06-16-24
The story seemed to be in-line with the quality of other series novels but the voice performer didn't even try to match the characters' voices to any previous performance of movie or audiobook. Absolute let down and made it confusing at first. Tried to give it a chance but became boring.

Ideologs Dream
Revisado: 06-10-24
Much of this book is simply 100-120 year old textbooks in poli-sci, philosophy, and medical sciences being placed in the mouths of characters. It becomes so boring that I had to stop 3/4 of way through because I wasted 20 hours of my life. I would have never lasted that long if not for the excitement voice performer.

Lost that loving feeling.
Revisado: 05-07-24
About 60% is more of a woke pulp fiction romance than actual fantasy sci-fi. I've listened to 2/3 of this collection cause I enjoy the Dark Wizard, with a heart of gold, but can't force myself to ignore the BS.
