I have never said this before, and really hate to say it, but the movie was better. The character frustrated me throughout the story. A super intelligent character limited to the point of stupidity by lack of story development. I didn’t expect him to become Jason Bourne but I wouldn’t have been the least bit surprised if author had him looking for a gas leak in the oven with a lighter. Disappointed in what could have been.

Great story bro! My gut tells me there’s a lot more to be said but you delivered some of the best moments. I’m entertained and inspired. There is one particular quote that will not be part of the life advice I offer others. I’m gonna give it another listen to pick up any good stuff I missed or forgot. Life is for livin!

I kept waiting for...something...anything...to happen that would move the story along. I started counting how many times the phrase “wan smile” was used (it was too many). This was the apocalyptic version of watching paint dry.

I am, at best, mildly successful and see glimpses of myself in Chips personal story. One of my biggest takeaways is the crucial need to be a doer. As he describes executing an idea, or half an idea, I can feel myself mentally & emotionally pulling up the reins. Using Chips example I am making a challenge to myself to become a doer. Not a reckless Jesus Take The Wheel and hope for the best doer but a calculated doer that commits to a course of action and follows thru.
Thx for sharing your story & leading by example.

If you have an extremely long wait to see the cardiologist and want to fill the time without raising your heart rate a single beat just fire up this audiobook and you're all set.

The story just slowly steadily and painstakingly smoldered to its "dawn of a new day" conclusion. It was like asking someone for the time and, in response, they built a clock for you in slow motion. The story was not bad, despite loose ends throughout, it just unfolded very very slowly.

Surprised! This is not a "chick book"

My wife wanted listen to this book due to the popularity of the TV show. I figured it was a "chick book" that I had little interest in. I recently got in to a situation where I had a long wait with no internet. All I had to kill the time was The Magnolia Story my wife previously downloaded. It turns out this is not a book about decorating & design targeting a female audience. It is about a hardworking couple raising a family and building a business telling their unique story. It is literally told from the ground up. To a discerning listener the timeline offers a long-term inside look that answers the question so often asked of successful people, "How did you do it?" There were several points made by both Chip & Joanna that caused me to stop, meditate and reflect. One of the strongest points they made is they idea that we never "arrive". That kind of thinking causes us to become complacent which is a real danger to our personal and professional success. But intentionally rearrange the state of thriving away from a destination and place it on the journey. That simple act will cause us to be intentional about the way we live naturally putting more focus on the everyday process of our lives instead of just the singular events.

If you're between 20-70 years old you MUST read this book. For too many people the idea of retirement is filled with equal amounts of hope and fear. Chris delivered his message with a calm clarity that did not water down the urgency of facing our retirement fears. From personal failures to real life horror stories to success stories Chris paints a clear picture of what it takes to retire with dignity in our golden years.

Is it better to have a book provide closure in a nice neat package with all the loose ends firmly tied up or be left with a feeling of unfinished business and wanting more?

Life is no Disney movie & the author did not succumb to white washing that fact.

The story drew me in then had me invest in the characters so I really wanted a happy ending for them.

I ended up wanting more for them but I will have find satisfaction in the smaller triumphs of the storyline knowing it could have been a lot worse.
