Historia
It’s a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t here for the big event. Phoebe is here because she’s dreamed of coming for years—she hoped to shuck oysters and take sunset sails with her husband, only now she’s here without him, at rock bottom, and determined to have one last decadent splurge on herself.

Quipped succinct dialog
Revisado: 09-30-24
Loved it! This book was not what I thought it was gonna be. I thought it was going to be a cheesy romance, a mindless read. It turned out it was interesting and engaging and I really liked it. If you like dialog and witty, sometimes sarcastic dialog, give it a try

Historia
Deborah Harkness first introduced the world to Diana Bishop, an Oxford scholar and witch, and vampire geneticist Matthew de Clermont in A Discovery of Witches. Drawn to each other despite long-standing taboos, these two otherworldly beings found themselves at the center of a battle for a lost, enchanted manuscript known as Ashmole 782. Since then, they have fallen in love, traveled to Elizabethan England, dissolved the Covenant between the three species, and awoken the dark powers within Diana’s family line.

Historia
Everyone refers to the St. Cecelia as “the Saint.” If you grew up coming here, you were “a Saint.” If you came from the wrong side of the river, you were “an Ain’t.” Traci Eddings was one of those outsiders whose family wasn’t rich enough or connected enough to vacation here. But she could work here. One fateful summer she did, and married the boss’s son. Now, she’s the widowed owner of the hotel, determined to see it return to its glory days, even as staff shortages and financial troubles threaten to ruin it. Plus, her greedy and unscrupulous brother-in-law wants to make sure she fails.

Not a fun summer read the art cover conveys
Revisado: 07-06-24
I was looking for a witty beach read with vacation images and funny characters. While I’m a fan of Mary Kay Andrews and the setting was told beautifully, the themes were much too heavy for my liking. If you are interested in a book that has difficult and heavy themes, in a beautiful setting, with a good narrator, this might be a good book for you.

Historia
Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra. Which is how Daphne begins her new story.

In 1970s Baltimore, 14-year-old Mary Jane loves cooking with her mother, singing in her church choir, and enjoying her family’s subscription to the Broadway Showtunes of the Month record club. Shy, quiet, and bookish, she’s glad when she lands a summer job as a nanny for the daughter of a local doctor. A respectable job, Mary Jane’s mother says. In a respectable house.

Unexpected summer delight
Revisado: 06-02-23
I wasn’t sure what to expect when a friend from work recommended this. I was surprised I liked it so much. The narration is very good. Told from the point of view of a 14-year-old girl coming into her own in a different world compared to her family. I wish they would’ve come up with something a little more clever for the cover art. It looks like a teenage romance novel and that’s not what this book is. It’s clever funny charming a little bit inappropriate at times but overall good.

Has a HP feel, excited for next book
Revisado: 06-01-19
Really enjoyed this book, and, of course the narrator who is top notch. While this had a HP feel with a younger theme, it was still relatable for adults. Excited for the next.

Pippa MacMillan is a legend on the Irish folk music scene. But when her voice requires a time-out, she's left wondering how - and where - to find happiness in the silence. Seeking answers, Pippa leaves Ireland in favor of a small town in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Turns out lovely Blue Hollow Falls is the perfect place to heal - and solitary Seth Brogan is the surprisingly perfect host. After all, Seth is beginning again, too. Touching story with just enough heat
Revisado: 02-07-19
To be honest I chose this book because of Amanda Ronconi, the narrator. I enjoy her voices and was looking for a new series. Book 1 and 2 of Blue Hollow Falls did not disappoint. If you like chick lit with romance and a little heat, I think you will enjoy. Lots of dialog and the narrator is perfect. Not too sexy, not too much drama, the perfect amount of sentiment. Would be a great listen for the beach. I give it five stars. Reminds me of some of the other authors Amanda has narrated for.

I really wanted to like this book based on the setting, the author and the narrator. However, I just don’t enjoy hearing about bad teenage behavior. This one was not for me.

Historia
Little else in life is as dangerous as fire jumping. Flying past towering pillars of smoke, parachuting down to the edge of an all-consuming blaze, shoveling and sawing for hours upon hours, days at a time, all to hold the line and push back against the raw power of Mother Nature. But there’s also little else as thrilling - at least to Rowan Tripp. The Missoula smoke jumpers are one of the most exclusive firefighting squads in the nation, and the job is in Rowan’s blood: her father is a legend in the field. She’s been fighting fires since her eighteenth birthday.

Historia
The shots came quickly, silently, and with deadly accuracy. Within seconds, three people were dead at Central Park's ice skating rink. The victims: a talented young skater, a doctor, and a teacher. As random as random can be. Eve Dallas has seen a lot of killers during her time with the NYPSD, but never one like this. After reviewing security videos, it becomes clear that the victims were killed by a sniper firing a tactical laser rifle, who could have been miles away when the trigger was pulled.
