Historia
Miami Beach is the haven of a quirky cast of characters in Stanley Elkin’s wry vision of contemporary culture that won the National Book Award. In this Florida, the bright sunlight is shared by drug lords, health food fanatics, wealthy socialites, and refugees from the Midwest. Why are so many men interested in Mrs. Ted Bliss, newly widowed from a Chicago butcher? Is it her smile, her flawless Buick Le Sabre, or her late husband’s business connections?

Couldn’t make it past the 3rd chapter
Revisado: 09-10-23
I tried reading this book after it was suggested to me in Libby and wasn’t getting into it, so i thought listening would help. I was wrong … still so bad I couldn’t even half listen.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

This was one Amazon suggested for me and I’m really glad I gave it a chance. It was an excellent “read” from start to finish.

Historia
Beloved author Elizabeth Gilbert returns to fiction with a unique love story set in the New York City theater world during the 1940s. Told from the perspective of an older woman as she looks back on her youth with both pleasure and regret (but mostly pleasure), City of Girls explores themes of female sexuality and promiscuity, as well as the idiosyncrasies of true love. In 1940, nineteen-year-old Vivian Morris has just been kicked out of Vassar College, owing to her lackluster freshman-year performance.

Outstanding book!
Revisado: 06-22-19
I love a good historical fiction and this one did not disappoint! I only made it 3/4 of the way through eat pray love, so I wasn’t sure how much I would like Elizabeth Gilbert’s fiction. But, this book was amazing and told a story of a time and place no one’s covered. I didn’t wanted to end!
