Historia
Insurrection is in the air in the city of Ankh-Morpork. The Haves and Have-Nots are about to fall out all over again. Captain Sam Vimes of the city's ramshackle Night Watch is used to this. It's enough to drive a man to drink. Well, to drink more. But this time, something is different - the Have-Nots have found the key to a dormant, lethal weapon that even they don't fully understand and they're about to unleash a campaign of terror on the city. Time for Captain Vimes to sober up.

Historia
Mr George Smiley is small, podgy, and at best, middle-aged. He is disillusioned, wrestles with idleness, and has been deserted by his beautiful wife. He is also compassionate, ruthless, and a senior British intelligence officer in short-lived retirement from the Circus, the British Secret Service organisation situated in London. But Moscow centre has infiltrated a mole into the Circus, and it's more than likely the perpetrator is Karla, Smiley's old adversary and his opposite number in Moscow.

The Great A'Tuin, the heroic turtle who supports the weight of the entire Discworld, not to mention four giant elephants, swims through the galaxy day and night with the burden of being the only creature who knows exactly where the universe is going. Philosophers have long debated where this is, and are due to find out in about 2 months. Shall they worry?

Pratchett Is Always Wonderful
Revisado: 11-23-22
Melbourne, Australia
I’ve loved listening to all
of his books several times over, especially those narrated by Nigel Planer but Stephen Briggs is nearly as good too.
Every single book is stunningly funny and very clever … read as a series or stand alone they’re exceptional.
Start with Witches Abroad or Guards Guards … your family will become engrossed immediately enjoying listening them with you.
Make sure you purchase the old recordings rather than the new ones just released. I purchased Reaper Man’s new version it’s hopeless in comparison, such a disappointment that Pratchett’s excellent books are now rendered truly dreadful. Reaper Man has almost all male characters, yet they’ve used a woman to narrate men’s voices making them sound weak and foolish with a female trying to deepen her voice. Why the publishers massacre Terry Pratchet’s audio books like that is beyond belief. Yet the publisher employed a man to do the voice of “DEATH” and he was so excellent you’d think clever publishers would want him to read the many other male characters too. But no, they ruined the book with this poor woman doing her best to sound almost like a male child … instead of a strong male characters.
Hated every minute and couldn’t finish …. I’ve heard all the original narrations, every one delightful narrated and truly so funny you’ll be helpless laughing.
The female narrator can’t do that, needs a man’s voice to carry off these men’s so many varied accents and the clever timing of Pratchett’s male characters.
Buy the old recordings of his books !

I’ve read all the Slow Horses … they were brilliant, but this book
failed to get traction.
I was irritated by the narrator’s monotone , unusual for Barrett maybe he was bored to tears too.

Historia
The postcard has been held at the sorting office for 91 years, waiting to be delivered to Joe Tournier. On the front is a lighthouse - Eilean Mor, in the Outer Hebrides. Joe has never left England, never even left London. He is a British slave, one of thousands throughout the French Empire. He has a job, a wife, a baby daughter. But he also has flashes of a life he cannot remember and of a world that never existed - a world where English is spoken in England and not French.

Awful Narration
Revisado: 06-29-21
Melbourne, Australia
This book may good, may even be brilliant. I haven't a clue because I found the narration too awful to listen a second longer.
The summary made me smile, I loved the idea he'd put real people he knew in it, and some didn't like it at all, O E even attacked his car. I thought I'll enjoy this, I like that mad fish kidnapped someone from Earth to cook and eat, that sound like a funny book doesn't it! I'll never know .
Why do authors read their own work? Most are dreadful. Stephen King is the worst writer/narrator Ive ever ever heard, but his books are wonderful !
Perhaps this author's book is wonderful too.

Historia
Death is a topic Bradford Douglas is intimately familiar with. The young attorney is on a crusade against capital punishment. He’s saved a number of death row inmates, but none of his cases has been as tough as the one he now faces: Henry Combs, a vicious serial killer, has only hours to live when Douglas is summoned for a Hail Mary attempt to have the man’s sentence commuted to life imprisonment. As Douglas races to pursue whatever strategies he can think of, he finds his passion for justice giving way to something altogether different. An obsession.

Enjoyable. A satisfying intrigue
Revisado: 11-21-20
Lyndel, Melbourne. Australia
Often a author's subsequent books are just the same old story just in different a setting, leaving the reader disappointed by weak storylines and hurried endings.
But not this novel ! Though I felt the beginning a little slow to my own taste, I was unable to stop listening as the twists and intrigues had me in gripped, I was on a rollercoaster of emotions !
Scared for my favourite characters, holding my breath, then the relief as another villian is exposed just to be plucked out of my comfort to be thrown another shocking event
..... it's taut and timely with solutions only to knock the assurance of who's really running the conspiracies and corruption in the very highest levels of government, courts, police, business and self interest very wealthy elites.
Guaranteed a good listen here.

Another wonderful book in The Watch Series
Revisado: 10-30-20
If you're new to Disk World's The Watch Series, starts with Guard's Guards where Captain Vimes along with Carrot, Colon and Nobby hilariously fight a huge magical dragon and helped by Lady Sybil Ramkin the breeder of the tiny Swamp Dragons so popular as cigar lighters. The Lady is captured, chained to rock and offered as dinner to the wicked fire breathing dragon. Let the fun begin !!
I loved every word read and laughed til I cried. That's the first book to listen to, but all Terry Pratchett's books are Stand Alone.
The Fifth Elephant Sam Vimes has married Lady Sybil the richest woman in the city and is now not only Commander of Watch
but Sir Samual Vimes and His Excellency The Duke of Anhk Morpork, much to poor Mr Vimes' dismay. He hates the aristocracy in all its forms and appalled to find himself one of them.
The Patrician has ordered The Duke to attend the Coronation of the Low King of Dwarves but everywhere His Excellency The Duke of Anhk Morpork goes so does the Commander of The Watch and where the Commander of the Watch goes, he finds a crime: much to his wife's dismay.
I'd previously read all Disk World books and later tried out the audio version, WHAT A DELIGHTFUL TREAT ! The narration of every Disk World book is brilliant, clever and so very very funny.
I highly commend immersing yourself and family in the magnificently funny exploits and thoughts of Sam Vimes,. Excellent Rendition !!!!

Captain Vimes and his rag tag men live on the edge of reality where magic even grows in the wild
But Captain Vimes won’t have a bar of magic, Kings either. Meet Lady Ramkin and the Patrician a former assassin and the Librarian of Invisible University, a orangutan.
The humour and clever wit of the British had me in stitches as the hapless but lucky squad finally catch the dragon King who’s been flaming Ank Morepork.
Read it to the children they’ll love it too.
