Excellent finale to the best trilogy I have read
Revisado: 07-24-18
Pacey is an absolutely remarkable craftsman with the words as his materials.
Having read the trilogy prior to have listened I am thankful to have done so in that order.
To have access to this terrific series forever is well worth my annual fee to Audible.

Fantastic debut by Abercrombie

Fantastic book and Pacey's magnificent oration only adds to it.
This is what introduced me to Dark Fiction... But no others have made me laugh out loud such as Abercrombie in this and all his following books

Back to the Basics with this one. Learning to control power. Adventure with realism.

enjoyable continuation of the series
Revisado: 02-07-16
Realistically, if you enjoyed the first you will likely enjoy this book.
More time is spent exploring the Blasted Lands than the first (thus the title) and giving us a peek beneath the veils.
Worth a listen if you enjoyed the first.

A proper Audio version of an all-time classic
Revisado: 02-01-13
The Amber Series is been one of my favorite series of all time and the first book "Nine Princes in Amber" kicks it off in proper fashion.
I had tried to listen to the original audio books read by the Author, but found the use background sound effects distracting. This version is far superior with a wonderful performance by Alessandro Juliani.
The main character awakes in a hospital bed with amnesia. The story is told in first-person so we learn the character's background as he does. This eliminates the need for extensive background and allows you to enjoy the world Zelanzy creates as well as appreciate the story.
An excellent beginning to an excellent series, The Chronicles of Amber stand up well to the test of time.

A fun swashbuckler with a dry sense of humor.
Revisado: 02-01-13
What made the experience of listening to Triumff: Her Majesty's Hero the most enjoyable?
Quite simply, this is a fun book that does not take itself or the reader too seriously.
If you are looking for massive world building, deep dark undertones and characters that drip with angst ... This is not the book for you.
On the other hand if you enjoy well-written fight scenes and appreciate a dry, British sense of humor ... This one will be right up your alley.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I suppose I would go with Triumff's Butler. I am a sucker for the unblinking straight man's responses to the absurd.
What about Simon Vance’s performance did you like?
Vance has an uncanny ability to make amusing lines funny and funny lines hysterical.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Considerably funnier than I expected. Several times had me laugh aloud and draw odd looks from those around me.
Any additional comments?
Similar to Alex Bledsoe's work (Sword Edged Blonde) albeit without having as strong a plot.
Enjoyable listen, I will certainly be picking up any sequel Mr. Abnett cares to put out.
