Historia
Peter Tyler seems to have it all: a beautiful and accomplished wife, a high-powered Wall Street career, a sprawling house in the suburbs. But beneath this perfect surface, things are not what they seem. Haunted by an unhappy childhood, confused and dissatisfied, he seeks solace in a one-night stand. Then, before Peter can fully come to grips with what he's done, his house is broken into and his wife brutally murdered.

great until the end
Revisado: 10-27-07
disappointed in the ending, was a very creative story with a few unexpected twists and turns but the ending dragged on and on and was rather anti-climatic. Could have been a better ending.
Good novel otherwise and the characters were believable due to the narrator.

Historia
Marsalis is one of a new breed...literally. Genetically engineered by the U.S. government to embody the naked aggression and primal survival skills that centuries of civilization have erased from humankind, Thirteens were intended to be the ultimate military fighting force. The project was scuttled, however, when a fearful public branded the supersoldiers dangerous mutants, dooming the Thirteens to forced exile on Earth's distant, desolate Mars colony. But Marsalis found a way to slip back.

author could have
Revisado: 09-30-07
gotten off his soapbox for about a third of the novel and shorted this read to a more tolerable and acceptable 2 parts. At least one third of the narration involved the authors personal views on what he feels is/will be wrong with the world.
Reader did a great job with the variety of accents and voices and really gave the characters life. Great job by the reader but again the author could have saved us from listening to his personal preach of social mores dissolving and made this a much more enjoyable listen rather than a unabridged sermon.

boring from the start

had potential from the starting few chapters but did not develop at all. A monontonous drag and the reader was even worse. No voice inflections recognizing different characters or emotions.

Historia
As dusk approaches a small Dublin suburb in the summer of 1984, mothers begin to call their children home. But on this warm evening, three children do not return from the dark and silent woods. When the police arrive, they find only one of the children gripping a tree trunk in terror, wearing blood-filled sneakers, and unable to recall a single detail of the previous hours. Twenty years later, the found boy, Rob Ryan, is a detective on the Dublin Murder Squad and keeps his past a secret.

A little wordy
Revisado: 07-30-07
I found the story interesting and held my attention for the 20+ hours that this novel involves but could have been about 2 hour shorter.
There were many story lines that were behind the scenes but not fully explored and others were dragged on and on and on.
The ending was worth the additional time though.
