This book is completely off base. I am sorry that the author had a bad relationship with an abusive father. Though the narrator is a good and expressive voice actor, the source material is completely useless. The author’s constant use the terms like “ many men “, “ men don’t know how to love “, and men only know rage as their only outlet of emotion take away from any usable substance of helpfulness a book with this title could offer. The author sites Harry Potter as being party to men and their patriarchal masculinity disfunction. The popularity of the James Bond film genre would have been a much better choice if she truly did research. The author make wildly inaccurate statements and claims concerning male motives. Some of those claims she contradicts in other parts of the work. At one point she sites her own previously printed work as a source. This is not an academic work. Consider this book as absurd as a man writing a book on what it feels ( emotionally) like to give birth to a child. This book could have delved the facts of actions of men raised and participating in Middle Eastern monotheistic religions and their teachings as opposed to the Far Eastern philosophies. Aside from the fact that her father struck her and somewhere there was a young boy that watched “ The Hulk” and wanted to “ smash his Mommy” this book is just conjecture. If you are interested in why people think and act the way they do, check out “ the righteous mind” by Jonathan Haidt.

Drew Hayes spins another great tail. Scott Aiello is an awesome storyteller, not just a reader as you might find on other audio books.

I don't understand the bad reviews on this audiobook. This book spoke to the Exact needs that I have for improving recall and memory. I feel that I and Mr. Horsley are on the same page. Beginning with the false pretenses fed to us as children and how to break that cycle. I survive my life every day using methods, systems, and procedures. In this book, Mr. Horsley specifically describes how he proceeded from a youth with no training through a system that allowed him to work himself to the Grandmaster title. I totally agree with him on the point that these methods should be taught in elementary school to help us retain all the effort we put forth. He shares that he has no special talents, aside from perseverance, and that anyone who wishes to improve needs only to work at it. The Major system for remembering numbers will greatly benefit me on a daily basis. The FLOOR method of speeches is something that I had stumbled onto in my sales techniques without even knowing it. Now that I know it, I can improve. I am training better and better every day. Thank you, Mr. Horsley

Contradictions and caveats

To me and with my personal experience as a person and a parent, this book has many contradictions and caveats. Most of the parenting advice is universal regardless of any quantifiable mental disorder your child may have. It is good advice but not specific to ADHD. One of the main contradictions has to do with establishing "rules" with an unruly child. One of the others is the expectation of having no expectations. This book goes against the old Buddhist adage of " prepare the Child for the road, do not try to prepare the road for the Child." The most helpful part of the book is to try to delineate what specific thought processes the child has. ODD, oppositional defiant disorder, seems to be closer to a diagnosable problem to be fixed as opposed to ADHD. If you can maintain parental authority and teach your child methods, systems, and processes ADHD is simply just part of the parent practice. If you cannot maintain parental authority then the whole book is moot. This book is a good read for new parents that can establish early attention to any child. This book is little help to parents of a high school kid trying to help direct that life.

This book is full of the best Brain Science, maybe you thought "BS" meant something else. Dr.Milstein’s compilation of research and insight is Fantastic. Learning the mechanics of the organ and how it relates to how we live our lives was fascinating. Knowing the actionable avenues that are available for us to lengthen our cognitive fitness gives me hope for myself and those I love. The Producer’s choice of narrator ( George Newbern) fit perfectly. Listen to this book twice or more.

This is my second review. I went back to check some information. Maybe this book is a translation and is correct in another language. For example, Mushrooms PRODUCE carbon dioxide on their own and need it to be removed. In chapter 9, the Narrator makes this unclear. The Narrator also sounds as if they had a cold or flu during some parts of the production. The claim at the end stating this to be a complete work of mushroom knowledge must be a mistranslation as well. I will not ask for a refund, but I think others may.

These lectures were extremely useful and presented in an easily consumable manner. His voice and use of language are understandable. I felt sad that many of his jokes went unlaughed at by the audience. The Western logical and scientific reasoning is used to validate and repackage the Eastern thought processes of Mindfulness. He dismisses the need for any religions or Devine connection or requirements. The Link between Mindfulness and CBT has helped me greatly. I have more to glean from these lectures as I will listen to them several more times. Be Well and Good Journey

When a great author and Narrator combine to make me laugh in public as well as hang on words with suspense, I must give hat story 5 Stars. I believe that I am hooked on the series now. We will see what Fool Moon holds next. Thanks for a fun adventure. Be Well and Good Journey

Platitudes and contradictions

Revisado: 06-09-21

I found this book full of contradictions and platitudes. “Fake it till you make it“ is said in chapters 1 and three, however in chapter 2 she says that’s a bad plan. Further on in the book she emphasizes the fact that you have to know your stuff in order to get anything done. In some places she states be yourself and soon after that she states that you should dress like the other people around you, not too feminine but feminine enough. A lot of this book seems to fall into the Earl Nightingale folly of “follow the followers“. I truly expected her to use all of the female pronouns throughout the book. However the one time that she referred to “him” and his” what is in the reference to seeking out a coach. There are a very few nuggets of original thought and I am hoping those will be helpful to the people who make it through this book. I believe that too much of this book was dedicated as an advertisement to her business “half the sky“. I definitely did not agree with her ideas and opinions on how to handle emotional situations at work.Be well and good journey.
